Property Explorer in Basingstoke, and specifically Branch Manager James Stone, were brilliant in handling the sale of my shared ownership flat. James gave me the confidence that his agency understood the shared ownership aspect – I had a gut feeling it would be complicated, and how right I was!
James first visited my flat in February 2010, and we then had to wait for an independent surveyor to value the property (because it was shared ownership) and for the housing association to take their set time to try and find a buyer, which they failed to do.

I cannot thank The Property Explorer enough for all the hard work and effort they made on my move. They were brilliant at quickly replying to emails and returning messages, chasing up solicitors, answering all queries accurately, providing information and always very helpful! The Property Explorer dealt with everything effectively and professionally, I would definitely recommend to friends and family.

I have used Property Explorer for over 2 years, as letting agents for a flat I owned.
I have recently sold that flat and they handled the sale for me.
They are now the letting agents for another flat I own.
At all times they have been helpful and courteous.

The worst ever. Phone calls wont be answered politely. any problems will be turned into our fault and our responsibility before they are going to be bothered with any expenses. Will demand call out charges for checking on anything around in property. Will never get your deposit back in full even after you had paid for cleaners and stuff.

Sold the property to their friend for 5 grand less than the asking price which I offered & agreed. This gazumping happened after I had agreed with the bank to do the surveying.

I was finally allowed to put my flat on the market with Property Explorer in August 2011. I went on holiday leaving a key with the agent, and they sold my flat to the first people who viewed within a few days of it going on the market.
It should have been straight forward from there, but it turned out the property had been over-valued by the independent surveyors, which led to the property being down valued by the buyers’ mortgage company the first time it sold, and the original buyers dropping out because they couldn’t get a mortgage, despite James and the branch’s mortgage advisor putting in a lot of effort to try and find solutions. James had to deliver this news to me and deal with my increasingly needy phone-calls and emails as this meant that the the chain crumbled and I felt like I would never get out of my flat and into the house I so desperately wanted.
There were many tears involved along the way but James remained the voice of reason and common sense throughout the whole process. I always felt he was working for me, even to the extent of advising me on the process of making an offer on the house I have now moved to, and the problems there were with that. I don’t think it could ever be that complicated again, and although I think I have aged about ten years, I felt like whatever happened in the whole selling and buying process, James was the one to go to for advice or support.
The person who bought my flat actually came through the housing association, but when she couldn’t get them to respond to her emails and phone calls, she saw the property was still being advertised by the Property Explorer and contacted them in an attempt to buy the flat. Even though his agency had not found the buyer, James volunteered to still handle the sale for very little financial reward in an effort to just get it to go through (I think he took pity on me for the whole sorry affair!). At the speed the housing association worked I would probably still be waiting to move if it weren’t for his constant badgering of them on my behalf, or I might have lost the buyer completely.
James was brilliant at replying to emails, I had many contact numbers for him and he continued to work on the sale even when he was off work when he was unwell. And above all he had to deal with me, a very needy customer who expects brilliant service. I definitely got it. The man deserves some kind of estate agentry medal.
In January 2012, I finally moved out of my flat and into a house that is 100% mine, and I couldn’t be happier.
