Terrible

I put my property on the market with Paul Wallace in Cheshunt in March 2008. Their office manager valued my property, took details and told me my property would be on their website and Rightmove the next day. My property was not advertised on either website until 2 days after he told me it would be.

Also, when my draft property particulars were received by me (also 2 days after I was told to expect them), they were so badly drafted and incorrect it was unbelieveable! They described my property as having a communal entrance (it has its own front door!), they said it was a flat when it is a maisonette, they missed off various things I had asked them to mention; e.g. allocated car parking space, boarded loft, brick shed etc.

It took them nearly a week to erect a "for sale" sign and when it blew down in the winds in March, they never re-erected it despite my asking for this. Within the first week of my property being on the market, I had plenty of viewers and accepted an offer with the first week. However, despite my asking for reassurances from the agents that the couple who offered on my property could actually afford it, none were forthcoming.

I was repeatedly told by the agents just "to let things take their course". This was not acceptable to me, since 3 weeks after accepting an offer, no appointment had been made by a surveyor on behalf of my purchasers.

I told the agent I thought this was not right and that my property particulars should not say "SOLD STC" but instead should say "Under Offer". My instructions were not carried out and no-one listened to my concerns about the prospective purchasers and, needless to say, I was subsequently advised by Paul Wallace that my purchasers could not afford to purchase my property.

I had a meeting with the manager after being told this. He did not apologise for getting my brochure all wrong, nor for taking a week to erect a board, nor for mis-informing me of the timescale for advertisements on their website and Rightmove, nor for ignoring my instructions to keep the property on the market whilst my prospective purchasers obtained a mortgage. His exact words were "I don't understand why you are not happy with the service you have been given". Incredible!!

This is a true account of what happened and I would not recommend Paul Wallace to anyone trying to sell their property.
