Anyone who thinks to let their property with them must be ready to be bullied and ignored by OJ once any problem comes up. I had never, never, never before seen such a rude and absolutely useless team of cowboys, who never follow their words or even agreement signed, they just do not care!!! And moreover instead of the office resolving the issues they just cover up for each other, make the whole thing up and treat you like an idiot. Landlords - Avoid, Tenants - good luck getting your bonds back.

I was quite shocked to see such bad reviews of Oliver Jaques as I have had a geniunely easy going experience getting my property let and my tenants seemed to move in with ease.
The girls in the office were very helpful and Oliver gave me very good advice on how to achieve the best rental and keep my tenants happy in the property.
I will continue to work with them!

All very good at the sale stage, quite happy to drop me back at Canada Water tube station - however come the tenancy agreement signing then they refused to 1) Fax it over, 2) Bring the paperwork 5mins down the road for me to sign it, 3) Come in for 8am so that I could sign the paperwork.
If you're looking for an estate agent with flexibility then this is not the place to use. Stay away from them.

You expect the agents to answer the phone (why is it some places just let you ring?!?) or respond to your messages very quickly, and reply to emails. OJ do that.
You expect them not to take the right amount of rent each month. OJ do that.
You expect them to turn up to fix stuff and not expect you to hang around all day waiting for people when you've got a job to to. OJ meet the people themselves!So, overall they do what they're supposed to do. And they don't harass you or screw you over.

I have recently completed on the sale of my home through Oliver Jaques and I thought they were professional and efficient throughout the process.
I was originally on the market with another agent for several months with no success and very little correspondence from them.
After being approached by Oliver Jaques, I decided to give them a chance and within literally a couple of weeks, they had found me a buyer. The whole sale from the initial contact, viewings and sale process went without glitch and I would like to thank the staff, particularly Paul, Michael and Ben, who really took the weight off my shoulders. I am no longer in the area but would recommend them to anyone looking to sell their home.

Steer clear! The staff in property management are the most rude persons I've ever encountered in my life! They seem to lack any common sense.
It is also true of the other reviews - whatever they say is the law even if its wrong!

Rubbish, terrible, kept calling me several times a day, never kept the word. Confused me and my housemates, did not return the calls on time. Heavily disorganised, piled up the costs and added random things on top of what's been agreed (and signed!) for, trying to enforce it. Really unkind, rude and just plainly awful. Steer away from them, I will never use them again and I advise you to do the same - value your time, money and mental health.

The Property Management Team have been consistently rude and unhelpful and very unprofessional, I will give them that!
They do not seem to have read the Tenancy Agreements they get you to sign or abide by the TPO Code of Practice for Letting Agents. It appears they are a law unto themselves entering your property without prior warning, taking photos and showing round other prospective tenants. When questioned about their trespassing they made up a story about me obstructing them and not answering their emails or calls.

I am absolutely appalled by Oliver Jaques and can honestly say they are the most unprofessional estate agents I have ever had the displeasure to be involved with.
I would like to especially commend Property Management on their diabolical people skills, non existent manners, constant attitude and persistent habit of undermining tenants.
I would love to sit here an go through every occasion but I would rather just wholeheartedly encourage no one to deal with them. I pity the owners of the flat I rented.

Avoid this agency. They are friendly just from the beginning when they get the money everything change! Poor service! But good lesson for the future.... Oliver Jaques in Surrey Quays never ever ever ever again!!!

We were looking for a flat as I need to relocate to London for my job. I rang ahead of a viewing appointment to explain our train had been delayed and we were running late, only to find that no appointment had even been made! Then rang to ask where the office wa, we got a bit lost (even with the map!) and got our heads bitten off like school children!
Then after viewing the original flat we came to see we were offered another ideal flat which was within budget. Went to view it with another couple which seemed odd but then the price magically increased by

I would recommend any sane Landlord steer clear of this Agent. They are inefficient, unprofessional and unpleasant to deal with. They do not seem to understand their responsibilities, or even care what they are. You will end up resolving all issues directly with your tenants. The promises outlined on their glossy website aren't worth the html they are written on.

I've used the branch for the past 3 years and regrettably this year, it will be for the last time. Professional standards have deteriorated.
Problems arose with the poorly drafted AST, which raised issues needing clarification. Once the fees had been deducted, correspondence and communication were poor. Staff at the office were extremely rude and unprofessional. As a result of their cavalier attitude, I am now out of pocket and still waiting for my bond to be returned. Avoid these cowboys like the plague...or risk being seriously annoyed!Was this review helpful? Yes

Hopeless, hopeless, hopeless. Bill incorrectly, fail to get contracts signed and returned, make mistakes on contracts, never return phonecalls, the remotest issues with the tenant you have to resolve it yourself. Total disgrace and I'd advise anyone against using them.

This relates only to certain members of the Surrey Quays letting team who seem to think lies and bullying are acceptably professional behaviour but - avoid like the plague.

Just want to make it clear that this is not venting or complaining but rather a fair assessment of our experiences with OJ Property Management for potential future tenants or landlords.
- We have experienced everything that has been said on previous reviews about their lack of professionalism, their bad attitude (we got shouted at and told that they didn't care!, we also got accused of many bad things and have been threatened), their rudeness, the fact that they lie (and I agree with other reviews on this, they do lie to get themselves out of situations, they never call although they say... My partner and I had a major emergency problem which started in the early hours in the morning. We had tried to contact OJ for 4 hours from 9am onwards and kept getting their answer phone. What does the landlord pay management fees for? I am in the lettings industry myself for over 10 years and never in my experience have I ever come across such an appauling unprofessional agent in my life. The property manager put the phone down on me when I requested the contact details of the landlord. When we went into their offices to talk about the problem we were rudely attacked by the so called owner who was verbally abusive, obnoxious and pugillistic. In my opinion cowboy agents such as this is a disgrace to the industry. DO NOT USE EVER

I used Oliver Jaques as both landlord and seller. In my experience as landlord I know the tenants weren't happy with their responsiveness. In my experience as seller they were compulsive liars who told both me and the buyer simply what they thought we each wanted to hear regardless of whether it was the truth or not.

I also used Oliver Jaques and found them to be very helpful to me and my partner. When I had a leaking washing machine they sent someone round within hours and when I moved out I found the process very smooth.
I would use them again if I moved back to that area.

Great Agents. I really would recommend them. I rented last year through them and along with the helpful servcie I received, they are a really nice friendly bunch as well. Not something you can say about a lot of agents!

Dealt with the agent in Surrey Quays, they are an absolute nightmare!
Inefficient, unprofessional attitude, unapproachable! I have to basically call them up and chase every single step of the way! They claimed they have called or they are working on something but they never are unless you call and chase! THEY ALSO LIE TO GET OUT OF THEIR MISTAKES!!

, their rudeness, the fact that they lie (and I agree with other reviews on this, they do lie to get themselves out of situations, they never call although they say they will, you have to chase almost daily and still, they give you a bad attitude for wanting to sort things out and make a comfortable home). You have the clear sense that you're bothering them because you need heating or water!
- I also have the feeling that landlords/landladies are not aware of how unhappy OJ make tenants' lives unnecessarily. The amount of stress, chasing and upsets because of their lack of manners, their utter inefficiency is now unbearable and we will move out. The tenant before us couldn't get out of the place quickly enough and now we understand. It's a real shame because the flat is actually OK
- We have reached a point where we just dread to call for anything and will spend from our own pocket to fix issues and work at solving problems ourselves all week-end because we don't want to talk to them and get into ridiculous situations - but as everyone knows, that doesn't make any economic sense as landlords are paying OJ for the worst service possible and tenants have to put up with their bad attitude and total lack of professionalism. Let's not forget it is never in the tenant's interest to find out about problems
I want people out there to know about our experience with OJ to help them make informed-decisions (I read reviews to do just that too) - we have been renting for the past 15 years and since OJ, we always got along with property management companies/landlords and between reasonable people, everything works out. Unfortunately, OJ is neither decent or professional so it's a shame that we had to suffer their incompetence.
