Contrary to popular opinion on here, I actually have had a great experience with Nelsons. I have used their services for the last 4 years and am yet to be dissapointed. When I rented a flat in Brixton from them 2 years ago, I had a few issues with the landlord and Nelsons were great at getting them resolved for me quickly and efficiently. I have always receieved my deposits back shortly after vacating a property and in full. When I had to move out of one flat and into a new one on extremely short notice, Matt was fab at finding me what I was looking for in a matter of days!
It's a shame that only people who have had negative experiences bother writing reviews, since I've recommended them to friends and they are equally happy with the service!

Regardless of how good the house Nelsons are offering seems, it is NOT WORTH the disgusting service you will receive as a prospective tenant.
We saw the other reviews and thought "It can't be as bad as that", but we found out that, if anything, it was worse.
At the first viewing, we told the landlady and Matt that we were a group of 5 looking for a 4 bed. We were assured that this place had an HMO and that if we put in a deposit, the place was ours. They were happy with renting to us 5; we're nice, have great references and secure jobs. Despite awful service from Matt with... (read more)

Terrible, terrible customer service.
Called to fix an appointment and the PiC didn't realize I already had an appointment with a colleague of hers.
1st appointment gets cancelled - Said they call and left a voicemail....Couldn't text given that I booked 30 minutes before?
Funniest thing of all is that apparently the property was already gone and the second guy did not even bother to call and cancel HIS appointment.
Disgraceful and disappointing. Completely unprofessional.

Absolutely terrible, could rarely get hold of them, everything took forever. If we called up we were usually greeted with "are you sure we manage this property". Didn't give our deposit back as they claimed we hadn't given them notice....we had they just forgot about it. We ended up getting our deposit back through the deposit scheme. Irfan was incredibly unhelpful and actually got annoyed with us for getting in touch with him about the deposit even though he never responded. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Nelsons advertise properties which are not available. We put down a deposit for a two bedroom flat and the day of the move in we were told the landlord had let it to someone else, they then tried to push us to take another flat in a much worse area. We had a struggle getting our deposit back but what we simply cannot accept is that any landlord or Estate Agent would let the prospective tenant go through the whole process of referencing (which cost us £125 each) and holding deposit and allow us to turn up with a removal van ready to move in only to be told the property had been let to someone one. Totally unacceptable, totally unethical and very unprofessional. I would stay well clear of these Estate Agents and had a read the reviews beforehand I would never have gone to them

Talked a good game but put clearly do not vet landlords. Very unhelpful in assisting me in dealing with problems with landlord and unable to communicate in basic english when I wanted to know when they would be preparing inventory for check out. A bunch of cowboys - avoid at all costs.

I should have trusted my instincts ... My experience with Nelsons started off positively, and ended negatively. Obtaining our security deposit has been a non-starter. The deposit was not protected on a gov scheme, which is a major failing on part of Nelsons, and yet they still have the audacity, in what could be construed as witholding payment to the extent that their manager Irfan Rafiq has acclaimed he repaid the security deposit (yet he cannot prove this). In my opinion, I would avoid using them again, based on their reputation, my experience with using them and because they failed to protect our deposit (which still has not not been received)

Nelson's were highly unprofessional and unethical company. with little to no understanding of customer service. A friend and I viewed a property and bid for the property, we agreed on a price and paid a holding cost. 50 metres after walking out of the agency after agreeing the price they rang and told us the landlord was looking for £150 more a month. After a discussion two members of staff become highly aggressive with one claiming he "had a short temper". Awful, awful, awful. Please avoid at all costs!

Nelsons are unprofessional, unethical, incompetent, rude and lazy. They don\'t understand the responsibilities of a letting agent, let alone the concept of customer service and it\'s not surprise they are in liquidation!
When the tenants below me moved out they left the front garden looking like a rubbish dump. However, Nelsons told the owner (who lives abroad) that everything was fine and she returned their deposit. Although they initially told me (and the various other people that complained) they would resolve the problem they didn\'t, then claimed it wasn\'t their responsibility.
Eventually, 10 days after they were informed and promised to take action, my neighbour and I spent an evening disposing of a skip\'s worth of sodden rubbish ourselves. Nelsons are now trying to claim that they removed the rubbish and charge the owner for work they never did. They are without doubt the worst letting agents I have ever come across!

you like any other potential tenant put an offer down on a property that was lower than the price Landlord was asking, an (Agent) acts as the middle man between you and the Landlord, you cannot agree a price with the Agent as the Agent only ..again is the middle man, he suggests you a rent probability Landlord will consider, however is the Landlord who accepts/reject you as a tenant, you missed out probably on some property you could not afford, get a better job and then you can put a realistic offer Landlord will accept. salut
