   I have had the pleasure of renting my flat through Maarlems for the past 4 years. During this time they have been professional, thorough and extremely helpful providing a service above and beyond expectations. I have no hesitation in recommending them to other Landlords seeking an exceptional service.

   I rent out a flat and, before using Maalems, had had a very unpleasant experience with tenants who neglected my flat.... it was clear from the start they were going to do this, and yet the previous estate agent clearly saw easy money and were happy to recommend these tenants to me. So, when I approached Maalems, I was a bit nervy about trusting estate agents. However, I'm delighted to say that Maalems offered exceptional service from start to finish. They completely understood my concerns and ensured I was kept fully in the loop throughout the lettings process. They were reassuring, efficient, extremely quick to respond to my calls and emails and generally showed a huge amount of empathy for landlords. On top of this, they found me lovely tenants which have looked after my flat beautifully. A great result thanks to Maalems - I would highly recommend them as they offer a professional, personable, human experience.

   We rented a place from Maalems in Balham. All went well during the moving in phase. With the only hickup being a dispute of the condition of the carpets. We had a disagreement over the state, where clearly the carpets had not been professionally cleaned, only "domestically cleaned". We signed the inventory to this effect and this was accepted by Maalems.

   At checkout we domestically cleaned the carpet to a good standard but were docked well over the cost of returning the carpet to the "professional standard". We discussed that the inventory that was agreed upon had stated that the property was domestically cleaned. However, the signed copy of inventory was "lost", an electronic copy emerged although incorrectly dated with "professionally cleaned" on it. Additionally, the brought in their cleaner who produced an incorrectly dated electronic invoice (a year previously). All in, a disappointing London real estate agent.

   These guys have the worst customer service ever! You can never get through to the person you need to speak to because 'they are always on the other line', and then never call you back. It does not matter how many messages you leave. So you have to hope that the person you need to speak to answers the phone.

   When you finally get through to the right person and ask for something to get done it takes ages. They never send an email confirming that it will get done, even if you ask (Which I have resorted to because of how difficult it is to get through). They did not even give us two sets of keys when we signed for the apartment. They told us that we need to make a copy of the one they gave us and then bring them a receipt for it to get our money back.

   They are the first estate agents I have had to use, and if all other estate agents are like this then the industry needs some fixing.

   When we first reviewed the property we are about to move into, we where shown around by someone who only works weekends. She was not knowledgable as to what furniture was staying or going, and incorrectly informed us that most furniture would be let with the property. This was not the case, and even after she confidently told us everything was staying, a permanent member of staff told us the next week most stuff was the current tenants.

   We then dealt with another agent, who put us in touch with a 3rd agent as they were involved with Sales and "just helping out for a while".

   We definitely didn't get the service we thought we deserved, with one/two agents to have as a point of contact - but constantly got passed around.

   In having said that, their service was average and all agents were friendly and a far step away from the horror stories I have heard abot estate agents!

   Maalems were a delight to use when it came to selling my property in Balham. They stayed in touch on a regular basis, which is more that can be said for the other local agent (who I shall not name) did. The gentleman in charge of sales was knowledgeable and did everything he pledged. It just goes to show that sometimes a smaller firm can sometimes work better than a 'brand name'. I will be using them again in the future.

   I found the Lettings team at Maalems in Balham extremely helpful and professional throughout the letting of my property. They did all of the hard for me so much so I plan to instruct them to manage my flat in the new year when I move outside the UK!
