Avoid Carthews like the plague!
I am a tenant of a property they manage and we had a major plumbing problem. With a plumber on standby but no authority to make the repair, I chased Carthews by phone and email but was ignored constantly. I finally got Julian on the phone who verbally abused me and then hung up the phone on me.
Unprofessional would be too polite for this cowboy operation.

I agree with the other negative comments. We have been treated horrendously by this agent as tenants. They are inflexible, do not pass on messages and appear to deliberately demand access to the property at time least convenient to us, not offering more than one date and time. Recently their treatment has resulted in me feeling harassed in my own home and reduced to tears. The staff are unhelpful and quite rude. We are actually now handing in our notice to move as I can't take any more.
I also agree that if I were the landlord I would not use them as faults we report are never dealt with and we have to constantly chase. I do not believe our comments get passed on and the ones that are passed on are distorted.

These guys are a complete bunch of clowns. Talk about wasting your time. They never call back, and when you eventually get them on the phone they have difficultly remembering basic facts about your ongoing discussions. We eventually managed to contact the property Landlord who knew nothing of any of the discussions we had had with the managing agent. Avoid at all costs.

Carthews Sales and Lettings are a remarkably arrogant and obnoxious company. Their treatment of us as tenants was particularly galling, a true example of an avaricious and unprofessional agency. As a prospective tenant I would give them a wide berth and if I was looking for a managing agent, there are other firms in the area who would provide a far better and professional level of service.
Avoid like the plague.
