Where to start .... I have never dealt with such rude and unprofessional staff as this company, as others have said they have lied on numerous occasions, are unpleasant to deal with and aggressive in their manner. Avoid using them to sell or rent your property at all costs.

different year, same comments. The service provided at James Dean is the worse I have seen, and we have visited a lot of estate agents during our search. We had the missfortune to find our dream house through them and it was a nightmare to deal with them. They lied on numerous occasions, failed to return our calls, pressured us into putting the offer they were expecting as opposed to what the buyer wanted. Once the deal was sealed it was impossible to get anything from them, it was excuses after excuses, they never returned our calls. Stay well away from them is my only recommendation.

All staff at James Dean were fantastic. Very helpful, very knowledgeable. Found me great properties to let and sourced tenants straight away. In my 4th year of lettingwith them and never had any issues. As with all agents you will always get bad tenants, from landlord seminars i have been to sometimes the landlords are to blame in terms of not keeping their properties in good order and not willing to spend on repairs.
Thankfully I have had nothing but good experiences with the team at Horley, and if I had the money I would certainly get another property to let.

I completly disagree with workshy1 I have been renting through James Dean for over 2 years in the Reigate area.
When completing the viewings i was dealt with in a professional manner.
References where completed in a timely manner, contracts signed, keys handed over and a profestional inventory completed the day I moved in.
The staff members i have dealt with over the years have been nothing but friendly and helpfull with any repairs or queries I have. They are always dealt with as quickly as possible and I am always called and updated on progress.

Terrible cowboys! I was stuck with them and they used all kind of tricks to keep my property, which was totally neglected and badly damaged. Also cheated on the billing,but too much hassles to argue. Did not have much choice as I was aboard! Luckily, I am now free of these people and it took some doing to shake them off. Stay well away!!!

Dreadful, most unprofessional people I've ever dealt with. eg the "inventory" I'd paid for failed to include the garage so the tenant dumped loads of old stuff in there which she subsequently denied was hers. Keys to the garage had been provided but the James Dean agent said "we didn't think we were allowed access to the garage" and the tenant said that the garage had been "left unlocked" when she moved in.
James Dean set me and the tenant up against each other rather than try to negotiate matters upon the tenant leaving - the oven was left dirty, the carpets... (read more)

No leadership from the top down. Messages left, no return calls, staff, management and owner guilty of that! Couldn't care less attitude, even for the fee couldn't be bothered to show the flat nor check it was fit for habitation. Even offered the previous tenant to keep his food in the freezer and allowed him to hold a spare set of keys when challenged they didnt follow it up only after 4 phone calls did the food get removed and keys handed in! Refund wasn't actioned when it should have been had to chase up - excuse was - we only do it once a week, even though a week and a day had passed! No better than the multipuls probably worse!

Awful service - sloppy, never called back. Terrible viewings, wrong keys, no information to hand.
We actually stayed in touch with our vendors and subsequently discovered that James Dean lied to us - the vendors offered us stuff in their house for free - the estate agents said that they were taking it with them. They also don't seem to have given all of our house offers to the vendors.
A disgrace.
I also know they circulate details of properties that have already sold to drim up business.

James Dean set me and the tenant up against each other rather than try to negotiate matters upon the tenant leaving - the oven was left dirty, the carpets were dirty - but I'd had them cleaned before she moved in. James Dean lied and said they had the receipt for the carpets being cleaned right there, so when I asked them to fax it over to me they then backed down and admitted they hadn't got one. When one was provided it was handwritten on a scrappy bit of lined paper torn out of an exercise book.
To prove my point further I rang the company they named as the carpet cleaner and they had to admit they hadn't been to my property to clean my carpets. The letting agent lied for the tenant every step of the way. The property needed a lot of attention once she moved, none of which had been advised to me, and they also advised the wrong date for when the property would be vacant. So in summary they did not do their job, were defensive and lied on several occasions.
The check out inventory gave the impression no-one had even been to the property to check it - toilet was dirty, oven was dirty, two windows had been left open but each point on the inventory had been ticked as OK.
