We first engaged with Haslems in early February 2012 and were very pleased with the quality of the advice we received. We then instructed Haslams to sell our property. We had concluded a sale (subject to contract) within a very short perioid, and had received excellent support and advice throughout the process. All matters were dealt with professionally and quickly and all the members of the team that we dealt with were fully aware of the details of our move. We then moved to a new home in another area without any problems.
We would recommend Haslams to anyone in the Reading area considering a move. We found them to the most realistic and responsive.

I live in Canada and had to sell my property in Reading, Haslams were recommended to me by a friend.
I had to rely completely on Jonathan for a number of things above and beyond what an agent should reasonably be expected to do.
Jonathan was absolutely fabulous, always helpful, patient and knowledgeable. He helped me to avoid a certain disaster due to a mistake by my bank.

Six months after having our offer accepted we have finally moved into our new home. Had it not been for Jonathan Chamber's careful and sensitive manner in guiding us through the process we would probably not have held out for so long and would be renting now instead. He dealt with us intelligently and respectfully and kept us all calm whilst doing everything he could to speed things a long. We are really grateful for all his hard work.

I recently moved from Florida, USA and my house hunting trip to the UK could not be any better. The staff is friendly and considering that I had very limited time, we were able to screen and narrow down my options and not waste any time. The customer service is great too! Any time I needed something, they were able to help right away. I checked other real estate companies in the area prior to this one, and I was not very satisfied. I have two colleagues moving soon and I recommended their service.

I have had a great service from Haslam's from start to finish. The initial valuation was carried out in a highly sensitive (this was my late mother's property), detailed and professional manner, showing an excellent knowledge of the typical characteristics of the type of property, which no other agents showed. The valuation was honestly explained and the house sold incredibly quickly at a good price.
As I don't live in Reading myself, I needed to do most of the things connected with the sale remotely via email and again Jonathan Chambers, the agent who dealt with my sale, was always very helpful, responding promptly to all my questions and queries and doing quite a few practicalities on my behalf.
I felt like I had a highly personal service, despite never actually meeting Jonathan in person (the branch manager had carried out the valuation), and would be very happy to use Haslam's again.Was this review helpful? Yes

Our mother passed away earlier in the year and, as I live abroad and my brother and sister quite a distance from the property, we were expecting a long and bothersome task ahead of us. Halams took on the role as Agent and were brilliant. Within 4 months the property was sold and the new owner moved in. The staff, a well coordinated team with a good manager/staff relation, were friendly, very professional and kept us informed every step of the way. Thank you Halsams!

I purchased my house through Haslams a few years ago so instructed them when I came to sell. They had some very good photos taken of the property and marketed it well. They found a number of people who wanted to buy the house and the whole transaction proceeded smoothly. They kept me well informed regarding surveys and the purchaser's own sale. Overall they were hard to fault and I am sure I shall use them again in the future.

Right from the start the service we have had from Haslams was very good. At the point of deciding which agent to market the property with, Haslams out performed the others in terms of professionalism and general attitude.
Whilst the sale of the property has been trouble free, our onward chain has proved challenging at times to say the least. Many of the issues have been caused due to poor or a complete absence of communication from another estate agent (who like to drive green minis) I shall be reviewing them too in the near future…….!

Haslams were the sellers agent. We dealt mainly with Steve Woodford, the MD, who was very pleasant and through his discussions with the seller allowed us time to develop the purchase (I was sellng two properties in parallel). Steve kept us informed on a regular basis of any developments and helped us forge a good relationship with the seller through to completion and beyond.
We also considered Haslams for sale of one of our properties but we felt their valuation of the property was on the low side, and this was manifested when we secured a higher price than had been suggested.
So we did not engage Haslams directly but dealt with them over a three month period and found them to be professional and responsive.Was this review helpful? Yes

I found that the Manager and staff at Haslams in Friar Street were extremely helpful in bringing the sale of my elderly Mother's house to a smooth conclusion. As I live in Hampshire and she was moving to a Care Home in Winchester near to me, it was such a relief to be able to leave the sale in the hands of professionals who kept me informed every step of the way.

I used Haslams to sell my property due to theiir excellent local reputation and the fact that they had sold my property to me 10 years ago. From the first telephone call arranging a valuation right up to completion and indeed beyond, the service has been absolutely superb. The sale process was not straightforward and became increasingly stressful right up to the last minute, resulting in considerable distress to myself. Jonathan Chambers was the sales agent and handled everything with total professionalism. He kept me constantly informed of all developments, was supportive and reassuring, made me smile when all I wanted to do was cry and conducted himself and the process with a maturity beyond his years. I know he was 'only doing his job' but genuinely feell he did much more than was expected and I will always be very grateful. I would have no hesitation in recommending Haslams to anyone who may be buying or selling property, they explode the estate agent myth!

As a Landlord i cannot reccommend the team from Haslams more highly. They keep me regularly up to date on any developments and i have a hassle free relationship safe in the knowledge that my house is being looked after. They are very easy to deal with and are always available on the phone or email and most importantly they are very prompt at all times.

As a first time buyer in the current uncertain market, I faced difficulties with the bank, solicitors and advisors. It was very frustrating.
However the only hope I had was 'Jonathan' a thorough professional from Haslams. He helped me sort many of these issues and kept track of the deal. We had strict completion timelines and he ensured that these were met by making sure there were no delays from the seller/sellers solicitor etc.

As a Relocation Agent, I have sourced a number of flats over the last 8 years through Haslams on behalf of our corporate clients. The quality and specifications of their properties have been top notch at whatever budgetary level I was looking. Ollie, Dan and Michelle have been a pleasure to work with during my searches - being very professional, helpful and equally importantly always being positive and enthusiastic. Whether I was a prospective Landlord or Tenant - if I did not use Haslams then my Lettings experience in Reading would be far less successful.

Property details were very professional and had lots of potential buyers viewing the property quickly. Advised of realistic marketing price. Sold quickly for a price we were happy with, although was not our ideal selling price, hence only 4 stars.

I have been extremely disappointed with the ‘service’ I have received from Haslams over the past 18 months.
The crux of the problem, in my opinion, is that Haslams does not dedicate a ‘CRM’ to each Landlord or property. This means that whenever there is an issue, you receive emails from 5-6 different personnel and are passed around the firm when you telephone with no-one willing to take ownership.

My husband spoke to several different estate agents before we decided on Haslams to let out our four flats. Ollie came across as very competent from the start (and still is). All the staff from property management are also fantastic helping you deal with any issues that tenants may have.

Oliver at Haslams has always been very helpful with advice and also finding tenants for my property over the last 2 years. The management side of Haslams has improved greatly, and after a very difficult time with this side of the business, I now feel much more confident in the service.

I have been an extremely happy abd satisfied customer of Haslams since 1997. I have bought two properitie and sold one through Haslams and in the past 14 years I have also been a customer of their lettings department for a number of properties for which Haslams has acted very successfully as our letting agent. I feel so much at ease dealing with Haslams and the staff are very friendly, professional and meticulous in their work,.Recently all I had to do was to call to Oliver (Ollie) and he has looked after everything from the beginning to the end with great speead and most efficiently. On two occasions quite recently he found two eligible tenants for me within a few days. I therefore felt very relieved and happy with the outcome. When I call, email or step into the office I feel a caring friend is looking after my interests. I give Haslam ( both sales and lettings) the highest possible marks and i know that my tenants too have been very happy with them.

We bought our house through Haslams and they were great in that instance so we used them again to sell. They did a great job, keep in close contact, helped us out with queries and were also very polite and professional whoever we spoke to at the agency. Only got four stars because we felt that their valuation was a little low and indeed we sold our house for more than what was initially suggested. We always recommend Haslams to friends and colleagues as in our opinion they are the best agent in the area.

Can\'t believe how smooth everything has been. I have moved several times and Haslams has been the most responsive estate agent I have ever dealt with. Special thanks to Ollie, who has been on the case 100% of the time and has been an absolute gem.
I have just moved into a flat through Haslams, and there were a few things that needed fixing or dealing with. After reading some of the reviews on this site, I was apprehensive about the property management department and wasn\'t expecting a quick resolution. However, they got back to us within 48 hours, and 99% of things have already been sorted out, with the other 1% expected today. Why can\'t all estate agents be like this?

The property I am now renting is not managed by Haslams, they only acted as letting agents to find a new tenant, however they have continued to offer support weeks after the move-in date to ensure everything has gone okay on my side.
Admin fees/agency charges were lower than most, and the process has been extremely smooth (with regard to the agency), which was surprising considering I moved in only 2 weeks after making an offer!
Wish they were managing the property! I would highly recommend them on this experience. Thanks!

I used Haslams for the first time to book Home Court serviced apartments on London Street, Reading.
Michele (Halsams) was very professional, extremely helpful and answered all of my queries promptly. Eg. I did ask that I didn’t want to stay in an apartment close to the main road so she found me one facing into the courtyard. It even had a tiny little garden .
Accommodation was great. Very clean and tidy. A nice touch was that there were a few toiletries and basic breakfast food and drink, great if you arrive late.

Worst experience ever, had a flat with several issues, like big water stain on a wall, I've been told it's going to be fixed once I move in. I lived at the property for the year and that stain has never been fixed, apart from that I had mould every where cause of that stain and I had to through most of cloth away and most of the furniture. On top of that we've been charged for a sink (with a small crack) which apparently costed as much as the rent for two months for this flat. No apologizes or anything like this, also I had to write several email asking for deposit and it took over 1.5 months. Bad bad bad.

As a Landlord my experience of Haslams has been without doubt the worst letting agent I have ever come across.
Their major failing is that their property maintenance department is managed in Cyprus - so when you have an issue it is impossible to get anybody to attend your property to see for themselves the issues.
Their reviews on the condition of the property are less than encouraging due to the lack of information obtained and provided. When you have issues they have a great habit of passing you around the business with nobody wishing to take responsibility for any issues.
Contractually they are extremely weak - my experience is that you need to fight every step of the way as they do not support the landlord or indeed the tenant. Our tenants actually came to us direct due to the difficulties they had trying to get Haslams to respond.
All in all a terrible experience and a very time consuming one - not something that you expect when you pay them a management fee. Be warned whether you are a landlord or a tenant - the experience is not a good one.

I rented through Haslams for a year and found them to be a pleasure to deal with. All the staff I dealt with were friendly & professional, they just made my tenancy a smooth pain free experience from beginning to end, something that I unfortunately have not experienced from several other agencies that I have used in the past. I have been using Haslams for the last 2 years for getting serviced apartments while I move back to Reading from overseas assignments.
First of all, they are professional people giving importance to customer requirement and provide proper service on time to meet customer satisfaction. I've stayed at Home court Apartments on London Street several times during 2009 and 2010 and I would recommend the two bedroom apartments without pause. Having acquired a company in Reading in mid 2009, I have had the opportunity to now use 3 apartments and the standard of offering & service at Home Court now means that this has become my strong preference unless they are fully booked.
The reasons for my preference are as follows:

I would like to share that I deeply enjoyed staying into the duplex apartment "Home Court" in Reading and I greatly enjoyed the space it was offering. I found that everything was built in such a taste and such an intelligence of managing space and colours that I felt being in a warmth and welcoming home, - offering a "zen oriented" comfort and all facilities. This was just perfect for accomplishing my project in Reading.

I have been dealing with Haslams since Nov./Dec.2009. Haslams are managing two flats for me. Flats are let through Reading branch. I have found the staff very courteous and willing to help. I contacted Haslams for short term rental as the house I was moving into was still under construction and my quit date for the old property was just a week away. I stayed in their property Home Court, on London Street. It was perfect in my circumstances, clean, quiet and comfy.

Poor reviews by tenants regarding Haslams and how they deal with maintenance issues may be down to Haslams re-locating their property maintenance team to Cyprus earlier this year. Think they also handle property management for some London based letting agencies e.g. Lauristons.

Haslams were first class as agents for my recent property sale. The were realistic with the valuation and achieved the full asking price. We only had viewings that were serious buyers. The communication was excellent and we were kept informed throughout our transaction as to progress. I felt confident our sale was in good hands. The staff were all very friendly too and nothing was too much to ask. I would highly recommend Haslams.

Have just let my property for the 9th year with Haslams, have always found the staff to be professional and prepared to go the extra distance to secure a let. Very good at selecting suitable tenants and I have no problem recommending them to family and friends. Have had issues previously with other 'big' firms in the town centre and have found them generally to be dismissive and difficult to deal with and I was the client!!!!
Stick to the small, indpendantly owned firms and avoid the big corporates.

Recently used Haslams to sell a property in Reading. The sales staff were first rate, knew what they were talking about and were always very helpful and efficient. Only introduced suitable viewers (no time-wasters) and achieved a sale very close to the asking price. Would have no hesitation in using them again.

I had one of the worst experience with Haslams. After charging hefty 375 GBP as a administration fee... I was told would be move into flat in a week time... Eventually it took more than two weeks time for verification process and other process..... (I don't know why would it take that time...while the flat was vacat and ready to move in...). I had to stay at hotel till that time.
I opted for a fully furnished house and I was told that all the amenitis are working.. Only after I moved in, I realized there were several issues in the flat which I was not told.. The washing machine was not... (read more)

The were terrible. Nothing was dealt with quickly. Constantly having to call them with the promise they'd call back. They never do.
And now they have used my name against the building in a bunch of new bills. AVOID!!!

There have been several occasions when we’ve needed more information or clarification about what was happening with the chain above us, Haslams have been extremely helpful every time. Jonathan Chambers and Chris are the ones who we’ve had most dealings with and they have been helpful when we couldn’t get information from anyone else involved in the chain, not even the agent acting for the vendors of the property we were buying. When I’ve called them they have always found out what we needed to know, they’ve contacted people with whom we had no direct dealings and came back to us very quickly with an update.
On several occasions I have needed to ask Jonathan Chambers to get involved in things that really have been outside of his remit, he has always been willing to help and has gone beyond the call of duty without ever making us feel that we have been asking too much. We ended up proceeding with our sale separately to our onward purchase and even when we’d exchanged on the sale he was still happy to help with issues further up the chain when his job was effectively already done.
I cannot stress enough how impressed we have been with their service and I can say 100% that I would use them again but make sure that I tell any of my friends who need an estate agent just how good they are.

We also considered Haslams for sale of one of our properties but we felt their valuation of the property was on the low side, and this was manifested when we secured a higher price than had been suggested.

The fact that Haslams subcontracts to a management team in Cyprus is impractical and unprofessional. I have called the telephone number at the bottom of an email from the management team before, only to be told they have never heard of my property, asked me why have I called this number, and then transferred me to a lady in Cyprus! I have also received emails from ‘Lauristons’ as presumably the Cyprus team works for more than one estate agency.
Due to all the issues that I have experienced, I have now requested that my tenant copies me in to all correspondence with Haslams. This is the only way I can ensure the tenant receives a response. Consequently, this is not what I would consider to be a managing agent service!
Service has greatly improved since I have been dealing directly with Michele who is very helpful, prompt and professional.

 was very professional, extremely helpful and answered all of my queries promptly. Eg. I did ask that I didn’t want to stay in an apartment close to the main road so she found me one facing into the courtyard. It even had a tiny little garden .
Accommodation was great. Very clean and tidy. A nice touch was that there were a few toiletries and basic breakfast food and drink, great if you arrive late.
Also, I did look at some other apartments in reading but Home Court provided free car parking, Wi-Fi, washing machine, dish washer etc, also free travel cot for the little’un. I really dislike being charged for extras and this wasn’t the case with Home Court . Car parking is behind security gates with CCTV so it makes you feel at ease that your car is safe and secure.
The location and closeness of the amenities is what’s great as well. The apartments are very centrally located and only a few minutes walk to the Oracle shopping centre. Trian station is about a 10 minute walk. Tesco Extra is only a minute walk from the apartment. Extremely handy for a food shop.
All in all I will definitely use Haslmas again if I return to Reading.

I could not see the staff co-operative and do not respond to emails/calls even if the issue is urgent - it happened many a times and have go to their office to get things moving.
I had to take care and inform them about all the previous outstanding bills as well - as after moving to few days inside the apartemnt, I got postal mail from electricy and water supplies would be disconnected in few days if the previous outstanding is not paid.
They are so careless and their internal communication is pathetic - totally not reliable.
