I put an offer in on a flat which was accepted and was asked to pay a £1000 deposit to 'secure' it. A few days later I learned via an answerphone message that the property was being sold to someone else. If that wasn't bad enough I had to wait three weeks for the return of my deposit after lots of chasing and stress. Stay away - they are extremely dodgy.

Do not use Globe Estates! This estate agent had taken on our flat through a landlord and it turns out the 'landlord' was actually the tenant getting the flat through the housing association and illegally sub-letting it to us! We recieved letters from the housing association telling us we needed to vacate, which we were dealing with.

However the 'landlord' came round a couple of days later (with about 9 additional men) to move into the flat whilst we were still there. Therefore had to move out right there and then... costing us a lot of money and tears.

Guess what! We couldn't get hold of Globe Estates and they showed a tiny ounce of sympathy when we went in the next day to explain. All still shaking from the terrifying experience of being kicked out of our home.

We had to fight to get our full deposit back despite being made homeless and having to deal with a lot of other crap we had been through with them. It was very clear they did not put our deposits in the tenancy deposit scheme either which is illegal.

On top of this they called themselves the 'victims' as well in this situation!!!

I wish I had seen these reviews before renting with them - they cannot be trusted, are very unprofessional and clearly do not know anything about property, renting, being a legit estate agent.

Be aware, be very aware and stay as far as possible from this agency. They are doing their business on unethical way. My daughter wanted to rent an apartment at Globe Estates (they are acctualy not globe, but the worst last lost place on this globe estate agency - WLLP Globe Agency ). The agency took the deposit from her without telling her that the minimum renting period was one year. My daughter told to the agent everything about herself (student from abroad, ...) so the agent knew that is better for him be silent about renting period, .... This fact came out on the next visit, when she wanted to pay the first rent, .... of course renting for 12 month was not an option, her study ends in july. The agent explanation was "we are working properly", " we are working according the law", "the customer should tell us the renting period, how could we know", "she signed the paper and payed the deposit, so she knew everything", ... So they didn't want to return the deposit to her. But the fact is that the customer should be told every importing fact about the property, ... and the minimum renting period is quite important fact, isn't it!. I can't imagine what kind of scums are you to take advantage of a young girl student coming to your office to find a proper home in London. I must say that in all countries in EU that kind of cheating could not happened at all, because the last bastards on earth wont have a hart or saves the last trace of morality for not to steal from a student. You obviously forgot that you are providing a home to the people, a home, .....if you know what is home. Anyway, your business should be closed by authorities.

Hi Kuci, thank you so much for placing your review on here. They are being investigated by all the relevent government departments here in the UK, i have made sure of that! I urge you and others to issue a county court claim in court to claim your deposits back. Ask your daughter to fill out a N1 claim form which she can get from HMRC website or tell her to go to her nearest county court, just google county court in the area she lives. I am assuming Clerkenwell and Shoreditch county court or Bow county court whichever is nearer to her. If she is claiming any benefits she can get her court fee paid in full ask her to ask for a fee remission form EX160 from the court. If not she will have to pay a small fee but the good thing is she will get her deposit back as Globe Estates are not adhering to the law implented in 2007 where the government has clearly stated that all deposits are supposed to be paid into an approved deposit bond and NOT HELD BY AGENTS OR LANDLORDS. This must be done within 7 days of the tenant giving them the deposit and they are supposed to tell your daughter which bond and details of who is holding the bond within 14 days. Tell your daughter to report them to her nearest council, if Tower Hhamlets 0207 364 5000 and ask for trading standards and report them as they are already being investigated. In the meantime tell your daughter to submit a N1 claim form in court and if she has to pay she will get this back with her deposit and it wont be more than 100 pounds. I Urge all tenants and Landlords to do the same and not give up! If you all want to make a claim in court and want to do this at the same time let me know on here and i will come back and assist you all the way. Landlords toughen up and call housing benefit on 0207 364 5001 if your tenants are in arrears instead of listening to lies from Globe Estates, you will know instantly whether payments have been made and to whom payments have been made. Or ask for the head of benefits and revenue and speak direct.

Housing Benefit claimants and landlords be aware! Under no circumstances have your housing benefit paid to Globe Estates as either of you will see it. Have the rent paid direct to landlord or tenants only!! They are fully associated with previous management. Be fully aware.

Globe are dodgy though. I've been in one of their properties a couple of months now and still havn't heard a word about the deposit bond.

Oh and they are very nice, until they have you in. Then they change.

Commented by steve on the 29th October 2009

James, thats because they havent secured your deposit in a bond. You must write to them or email them info@globeestates.co.uk and demand this from them within 7 days or else you will not get it back once they do a runner, trust me your not the only victim. Call Housing Advice on 0207 3645000 they deal with private tenants too, they can liaise on your behalf. Good Luck.

Every single one of you including Joe works at Globe Estates so whats this all about guys? Kushi when did your name change to Kushna? Darling a great deal of improvement needs to be done in puntuation and grammer. That goes for all of you!! You can't always rely on estate agency software can you? Kushi its spelt potential!!!!!! I and the rest of the bloggers on here would like to know who exactly you accommodated as Kate and Joe are non existing. Oh except Joe Uddin!!! I would love to speak to these very successful tenants as you know your service is lacking and you are all incompetent. At least the previous management knew how to speak ENGLISH!!! How amusing and entertaining to see how desperate you are in hiding away from the worst estate agents on the list. You are indeed the WORST in the country. At least next time try and disguise your names as all tenants would be aware of the team. The previous management may have messed up but they were very competent and communicative. Good Luck Globe you really are going to need it!!

They are liars cos they are still using the same bank account for britania crest limited! they are cowboys that have been put in the office they have no idea about housing law or even how to write letters or speak properly. If these people were to apply for a cleaning job they wouldnt even get short-listed as they are so illiterate. Wanna know why? Cos incase any of you wanna sue him you wont be able to.... The trick is they set up a limited company and a list of directors are available from these sources however you have to pay a small fee. Also have a look at the land registry website. If any of you live in any of their properties contact your local trading standards office and housing advisory service both within your local council office. They can prosecute Globe if they are found to be in the wrong! Word of advice to all they are already being investigated by trading standards and all of you instead of wasting time get in contact with the council ASAP-they deal with private tenants so please do this. Together we can combat fraud and dishonesty! You will be helped and if you are someone who has work and cant go to the council-rest assured all this can be done online. Please post your replies on here and i will come back when i can. Dont wait for me just take the initiative and contact them now.. I have many useful sources and evidence and your cooperation can put the final nail in the coffin for Globe Estates...

Dear all,
we are also tenants with Globe, unfortunately, and we know a bit more about their current situation perhaps. We ran into a man outside Globe recently (our flat is only just down the road) and he said that Globe are basically going under. He said that the staff listed on the letter have been sacked...for stealing from the company. Unsurprising if you have any contact with these people. He said that the company he works for, Movers, are in the process of taking Globe over. I don't know where this leaves those of you who are paying rent or are owed money, but if it is any consolation the new man who dealt with us was very caring, professional and kind. We are currently in discussions with our landlord over who we should pay rent to and basically it seems we will pay it directly to him. I recommend you all contact your landlords about this!
Needless to say we have suffered the same abuse, rudeness, neglect and unproffessionalism from them. However, it seems that they have received their commupence.
Hope this helps, any questions please post them.

As i am aware many of you are still having ongoing problems with the day to day management of Globe Estates and i doubt the situation will get any better! If problems are persisting i urge you to contact your local council housing department and trading standards!! They are already being investigated so it will be good for you all to raise your concerns directly with them. You are more likely to get your bonds back. Also contact your Landlord direct as you have the right to!!!

Hi
We rented off this agency for a year. we left our tenancy in Feb and they have not paid our deposit back despite having all information requested by post / email and fax. They do not answer their phone and my housemate went down there yesterday and local trade have said that they look like they have shut although someone does go by there from time to time. Apparently a number of people have been down there in the last few days saying that Globe owes them money. We are bringing a case against them to reclaim our deposit. If anyone has any infromation on this agency please can they post it on this site? My advice is to not engage this agency in any business.
Thanks

We have been renting from Globe for over a year now, we have had problems with trying to get repairs done to the property.

We also received a letter from them a few days ago saying not to pay any ex employees, I have been trying to contact them regarding this for the last week, but the number just keeps ringing out, and think that they may have closed down I am conserned about getting my bond back and am not paying them any more rent until I know what is going on! I would suggest that any other current tenants do the same.

We have also been tennants for almost a year and moved into a "furnished flat" with no furniture. We had to organise our own furniture as they were totally unhelpful and have never sorted out any of the problems we have reported.

I think we received the same letter last week. We went round to find their office which looked like it was closing down. We went round to all the other estate agents in the area to see if they knew anything. They all said the same thing - i.e. not to ever use them. Apparently they are being taken to court left right and centre, so if you have to go to court to get your bond back I don't think you'll have too much trouble winning!! I would suggest writing directly to your landlord/lady with a copy of the letter as they might not even know anything about what is going on. Also check the account details with your landlord to make sure you are definitely paying them and not Globe.

Can't wait to buy my own place!!!!

Absolute crooks. Never deal with these people. We agreed a rent, gave our deposit 3 weeks before moving. Called them 3 days before moving out of our flat to arrange the key pick-up to be told that they had rented the flat out for £5 a week more. Had trouble getting our deposit back off them and had to find a flat to rent within 3 days or we would have been homeless.

Globe took my daughter's holding deposit at the beginning of Dec and told her she could have the keys as soon as the main deposit was paid. As the girls were (and thanks to Globe still are) homeless and desperate to find somewhere to live this was paid the next day. Thus began a series of lies and abuse from the owner of the agency, non-return of phone calls etc. It was only through threatening legal action that the actual deposit was finally returned mid-January. Globe still have the holding deposit which we are trying to get back

They are dishonest, dishonourable and incredibly unprofessional. Hard to believe they have been trading for years as with such an attitude you would expect them to have been forced to close by now

Our daughter and friend viewed a flat with a view to renting. At the time of the viewing, the flat was vacant and a £200 'holding' deposit plus first months rent and deposit was lodged with Globe Estate Agents early in December 2007. The flat did not become available because, apparently, the landlord was having problems with the existing tenants.

Globe Estate Agents suggested that they could provide alternative accommodation in the meantime but this has never been provided.

They are very difficult to contact and can, when eventually contacted, be rude and unprofessional. They were contacted by eMail via their website requesting a full return of all monies but, so far, there has been no response (Approx 10 days).

Please take heed of this warning and use this company with extreme care.
