Phil was very polite, professional and impartial. He presented me with all the information, facts and honest advice from his experience to allow me to make my own decisions. The rest of the team I dealt with were very efficient in organising my property to be ready and helped fill the property in under a week at a great price. These guys are highly recommended.

Gatekeeper really helped me in finding my new home. I was really struggling to find a house, as everything seemed to be being taken so quickly. I found one of their properties on the internet, had a viewing the next day, and the property was secured the same day. The service from Gatekeeper was so efficent and friendly, and really made me feel safe and looked after. Would recommend Gatekeeper to anyone looking for a new home.

After being let down by my agent I appointed Gatekeeper to boost viewings...and that's exactly what they did! The same day they received keys to the property, they'd lined up viewings...and the next day I had an offer at the price I wanted. They were great during the initial stages answering lots of questions from me as a first time landlord

We found Sam to be very polite and friendly , always being there to help with any queries and obstacles that arose, whilst still being extremely patient throughout the entire process and continues to be so.

DO NOT TOUCH GATEKEEPER IN SWINDON WITH A BARGE POLE. They are well known amongst other Lettings Agents for sharp practice. We also reported them to TRading Standards, but have got nowhere. The contract documents were illegal and contradicted themselves, and the charges are only made known once you say you are interested in a property and pay your fee to have it taken off the market. The fact that they do not belong to a Professional body like the ARLA says it all

I hate ringing companies and them not having a clue who i am but gatekeeper is totally different, they talk to you so politely and friendly.

Everyone I dealt with went the extra mile.As I don't live in the area it took a great deal of pressure off my shoulders. I have already recommended them to a friend who will be using them to rent a property.

I would avoid these like the plague. The flat I rented had severe damp the heating and hot water didnt work. The kitchen cupboard fell off the wall and scratched my boyfriends chest. They were not interested in fixing any repairs to the property whatsoever. When it was time to check out they tried deducting money from my deposit for a broken bath panel that was broken when i moved in missing wardrobe door handles that were also missing when i moved in and a dirty cooker which was cleaner when i moved out then when i moved in. Overall a terrible disgusting service would never use or recommend.
PS driving past the property i can only assume it is still rented through gatekeeper as the poor tenants must be so cold they have put cardboard boxes up at the window!!!!Was this review helpful? Yes

Great choice of properties at time of viewing, agent thought outside the box and always able to meet our requirements for future viewings, all dealings prompt and efficient, good call backs, proactive in terms of solving problems. always very pleasant, single consistent single points of contact throughout. Good professional firm. I rented a property in Aylesbury from them for two years. Key thing with me was the clarity of their fees at start and end. There were no surprises and were fairly applied. I dealt with various members of their staff over the teanancy and all were pleasant to deal with.
During the tenancy, the washing machine died of old age. They liased with the landlord to get it replaced after it turned out it couldn't be fixed. I always had confidence that, if I had other repairs needed, they would sort it out.
When the property was to be re-let as I was moving away, they always gave a day's notice of viewings. This, and other reminders/notices, was done with a text and email. Small thing, but handy.
I've moved out of the area now, but would use again.

I recently was looking for a flat to rent. hello, we will never go wiht gatekeeper as they work underhanded in everything they do, before we signed a lease they said they will check with landlord if some repairs would be done, they got back to us and said yes thye will, guess what when we signed the lease they said "no repairs were reported and wont be done" another occasion we asked for teh banisters to be repaired, they sent out a lady to take phots of it, after a month of not hearing back from them, we phoned them up only to be told "no noone came out, no job card has been issued or mentioned" last straw is they... Its a shame you can't put 0 stars...
All was proceeding well with viewings and discussions until we made the mistake of letting them know we were interested in the property.
That was the turning point, and every call that was made, Phil would ask if we had signed the paperwork yet. He also changed the details of the property, and if I hadn't asked about what specifically came with the flat, I get the feeling we wouldn't have known until we had signed the agreement.
The pressure to fill in the paperwork, and pay the reservation fee was phenomenal, and only once we had submitted card details did we find out what other hidden costs they had. When we asked for a refund, the standard "No" was given, as expected, leaving us no option but to contact the Ombudsman and Trading Standards.
I would warn people to do your homework, and talk to people that have had dealings with ANY agent, before making a final decision. You may not get off as lightly as we have.Was this review helpful? Yes

The best thing you have done is to search for gatekeeper, and that has led you here. The next thing to do? Steer well clear!! We paid the £260 for searches having been tricked into it-our mistake for believing that there was a 'viewing' after us, and that the 'viewer' was very keen on the property, but guess what?-The landlord would prefer us! Anyway, a raft of hidden fees, a contractual obligation to use their own insurer, highly restrictive lease not to mention aggressive and unreasonable timeframes for completion of forms. In the end we trusted our instincts and pulled out, losing our money but regaining our peace of mind. You've googled this company because you're unsure, with good reason. Stay away.
All the positive reviews on this site are either from Landlords or from rather uniform and predictable 'tenants'....

After having a bad experience with the previous agency I used to let my house, I decided to change agencies.
Phil called me himself and after having an initial chat, I was convinced I was making the right choice, as he didn't give me the standard sales pitch and spoke open and honestly.
They then managed to find tenants very quickly and also at the rental price I was looking for.

Whatever problems this agency could have in past (looking on negative reviews below), nowadays it seems not to be the case. Amazingly, Gatekeeper was the only agency (out of many) maintaining good contact with me and tracking preparations of my property for letting (that lasts many months!). So, I can conclude the other agents probably aren't just much interested to care about their customer base as Gatekeeper does, so I went ahead on arranging letting-only service for my property. Whole letting was fast and smooth, renting price evaluation realistic and matching my own knowledge of the locality, tenant was found almost instantly. All the progress was steadily communicated to me by both email and SMS, my email questions and concerns were always concisely answered in full. Well, I really don't know what more I could expect from an agency within this type of service. I referred one more landlord to Gatekeeper and also recommended it to another landlord friend, so here're all my wishes for them to keep maintaining same good level of service.

After missing out on so many rental properties because by the time I get to view on Saturdays they have gone, I came across one through Gatekeeper. They do viewings in the evenings. Great for me as I don't finish work until after 6pm. They suggested 2 for me to look at and the next day I had found somewhere! Good guys.

I have just bought a new property and let it through Gatekeeper. We had a very tight schedule as I couldn't afford the property to be empty.
The letting of my property has been very efficiently handled, with the team arranging a gas safety certificate and carpet cleaning.
Throughout the whole process, Clarice was very reassuring; making what could have been an incredibly stressful time remarkably easy.

We would like to thank Gatekeeper for the help and support with finding a tenant for our property. This happened quickly and effortlessly and they are now all set to move in tomorrow.
We have received constant support and assistance throughout. Nothing was too much trouble, we were kept updated on a regular basis and someone was available when we needed to contact them. We didn't have to chase for anything at all as everything was kept on top of at all times.

Absolutely awful service from Gatekeeper - worst service I've ever received for any company or from anyone in my life!Sam Gritton & Clarice Taylor are the main people I've spoken to; they're patronising, unhelpful and, quite frankly, incredibly stupid!
They don't record their calls, so whenever I have called them, I have had to explain my situation over and over again as neither of them know what I'm talking about as they never make any notes from previous calls.Their charges are extreme! They charge you if you want sky TV, if you want to paint a room (both of which may be beneficial to the landlord in the long term!).....list goes on and on!
We overpaid in rent accidentally & they told me that they won't action a refund of the month's rent until I click the 'accept button' on their deposit link - in the small print it says if I click 'accept' it confirms that I'm happy with the deposit money I get back - which I'm not!

I began marketing my house with another agent and was very disappointed by the poor service and lack viewings. Gatekeeper changed this when they took on my property and found me a tenant quickly. Throughout the whole process they have been informative, proactive and thorough. I would not hesitate in recommending them and would definitely use them to find me a tenant again next time.

Gatekeeper is an agency that definitely stands out; it is the most professional agency we came across; it is a pleasure to work with them; they do their job in a very pleasant and very efficient way; many other agencies make you feel that you are just a client amongst a dozen others, but Gatekeeper makes you feel you get all the attention and they constantly supply a lot of useful information to you.

Keep away from Gatekeeper Properties! I cannot stress enough how impolite and dishonest the people at this company can be. First off, I'd like to mention that they claimed to be members of the Property Ombudsman group. I later discovered this to be false when I tried to contact the Property Ombudsman group to complain. Gatekeeper had been forced to leave the group over a year ago because of the number of times they broke the rules.When I first contacted Gatekeeper, I inquired after properties that would allow a dog. This company has got to be the worst letting agency in Swindon and I would probably go so far as to say the South West. Their Tenant service is awful bordering on non-existent. They rent out properties that are known to be faulty and cover up the faults with a lick of paint, within weeks of a tenant moving in the faults reappear and when you contact their so called "Care Team" they don't actually care. Their very sorry attitude is "Its your problem not ours", this is even worse when you call them out of hours with a serious problem, the attitude is then "Call us back in the morning or fix it yourself".
This sorry excuse for a Letting Agency is only interested in one thing and that is taking your money. Phone them for anything and there's an admin charge. Definitely say Goodbye to your deposit with this company.

Do you really expect anyone to believe that trading standards would behave in is this manner, unprofessional and emotional!!! I would suggest that desperation has overcome this competitor to have to resort to this. If any one is in any doubt then call trading standards and find out for your self this is their National number 08454 04 05 06. If Trading standards had an issue they would only discuss your case and would not refer to any others. They only deal in facts, you have to provide evidence and you can not simply hide behind anonymous websites postings. Call trading standards and expose these comments for what they are.I am sure that there will be plenty more anonymous, wild, unbalanced and sometimes childish comments left. I am sure that the majority of people will dispense with your conspiracy theory and reach their own conclusions.

We enjoyed a very efficient service from Gatekeeper and I would readily use them again.
Reading through the other feedback, it would seem a small number of individuals don't share the same opinion. Whether they have a genuine complaint, are a competitor or just simply a serial complainer, I don't know, but theirs wasn't the experience we received.

I had used agents before but then rented my property myself. Gatekeeper appealed to me when I saw there adverts and their fees were low. They have done everything I would expect form an agent and more. The team are great and even a director called me to follow up the service I had received. I have a few more properties that I will use them for when they come available.

We had excellent service from Gatekeeper. They let the property quickly and for a fair price!! We were called ever week to discuss viewings and feedback. The viewings were mainly done in the evening by a very nice girl who knew about my apartment. We received good advice and friendly service from all the staff. I have recommended Gatekeeper to all my friends and family.

Mat at Gatekeeper asked me to leave feed back on this site as a result of some dubious negative feedback and I was more than willing to help. I think they are including it as part of the customer surveys that they send to all clients every 3 months or so. I can only say that they are 1st class and offer me great service. They also came out to my home last month and spent an hour discussing ways they could improve their service and new ideas for online accounts management. The negative comments are baloney and sound like a disgruntled ex employee or customer. I use them for all my properties find them very thorough and professional. I highly regard them and hope any one reading this will take my advice and use them rather than some of the other cowboys that I have ran into.

I have had an fantastic service - I am an overseas landlord and great value for money. Very professional service-nothing too much trouble. Was marketed on all the promised websites within a few hours of me signing and let with in days. I was kept up to date by email. The price was the same for overseas as for based in the UK and they were the only agent I could find that did this. With regards to the service, every thing that was promised was delivered and the staff were 1st class. I have read the comments from "unhappy customers" and do not believe a word. These people are nice and friendly and are a pleasure to deal with. As I am abroad I checked all the agents I emailed and called and these guys were the best and registered with The ombudsman,National association of estate agents, the tenant deposit scheme which the majority of agents I checked were not. Wouldn't hestitate to recommend their services.

This branch doesn't actually exist, it is a drop off / pick up point for keys, using another company's reception desk. The service is abysmal, we used their "managed service" and know for a fact that they never visited our property during the twelve months it was let through them, as we had to change the locks and they had no key! We let the property on condition there were no children, but subsequently found there was a child there and when challenged by the ombudsman they produced a totally fictitious tenancy agreement which neither I, my business partner, or the tenant had ever seen, which even the ombudsman called 'suspicious'.
How odd is it that following a stream of very negative comments on this site, there has been a flurry of excellent reviews, none of which name a particular branch and all written in similar vein, called me cynical but is there a slight whiff of rodent, or desperation?

Having been burned in the past with rogue agents running off with my deposit it was nice to be able to trust an agent again. They were helpful to me through every step of the process and nothing was too much trouble

I agree with long time service who called me to tell me about this site, I have been with Gatekeeper for about three years and have 2 tenants in that time who have also had nothing but positive comment. When things have gone wrong or a mistake has happened they have always been upfront and resolved it quickly and sensibly. I can not believe some of the comments I have read and they sound like sour grapes to me and unbalanced. Gatekeeper ask me for feed back every time a inspection or new tenant moves in and I always rate them Fantastic. One of their directors came to see me last year to get my feedback on their service and on what areas they could improve. That is the type of company I want to deal with.
I have always been really looked after and the hard work the team is very much appreciated by me. A big thanks to Phil, Clarice, Vanessa and Sam. who I deal with mainly and I hope you don't read these absurd comments below. Highly Recommended.

I am very surprised to read the feedback below.
I have been a landlord at Gatekeeper for 7 years and have received nothing but exceptional service from all members of the team.
Prior to my dealings with Gatekeeper I had used a number of other agents to look after my property and everyone had come up short and charged me twice as much for the privilege.
I have seen a number of tenants move through my property in the 7 years and they have also been exceptionally happy with the way they have been cared for by the Gatekeeper team, and my view is that they have looked after my property to a greater extent as a consequence of the hard work the team put in.
I have recommended Gatekeeper to my Friends and family and they have also been noting but impressed - I will certainly be asking them to log their comments.

Where do I start with them... Agree with all that has been said before. All the hidden charges and appalling service. Requested for a Tenant application form for a new housemate. Took 1 week to get it and just found out that it was never even processed. Now I am requesting a DOA and new application. It's more than 2 weeks and still nothing. Called them a few times during the first week and their answer was "We haven't reached to your email yet". Sent them 2 other emails since and got 2 replies both saying the same thing. " the form will be sent shortly" and I am still waiting.

I cannot believe they are allowed to stay in business. We all know that real estate agents aren't the most trustworthy people to deal with, but Gatekeeper properties are in a league of their own. The sheer insolence once you have paid the initial non-refundable fee, the hidden fees, the poor service - and they are, as someone else pointed out, unapologetic throughout.

Broke every promise made before the tenancy, every excuse made during it. Service was shocking and they were unapologetic throughout. End of tenancy, they tried charging excess fees, only refunded when I reported them to Trading Standards.

I would strongly recommend to not choose Gatekeeper letting agents. We have had a very bad experience with them right from the start. Their initial holding fee is too high and they have many hidden fees and charges. None of them were informed till the last minute. Service is bad. Avoid them if you can.

All was proceeding well with viewings and discussions until we made the mistake of letting them know we were interested in the property.
That was the turning point, and every call that was made, Phil would ask if we had signed the paperwork yet. He also changed the details of the property, and if I hadn't asked about what specifically came with the flat, I get the feeling we wouldn't have known until we had signed the agreement.
The pressure to fill in the paperwork, and pay the reservation fee was phenomenal, and only once we had submitted card details did we find out what other hidden costs they had. When we asked for a refund, the standard "No" was given, as expected, leaving us no option but to contact the Ombudsman and Trading Standards.
I would warn people to do your homework, and talk to people that have had dealings with ANY agent, before making a final decision. , nowadays it seems not to be the case. Amazingly, Gatekeeper was the only agency (out of many) maintaining good contact with me and tracking preparations of my property for letting (that lasts many months!). So, I can conclude the other agents probably aren't just much interested to care about their customer base as Gatekeeper does, so I went ahead on arranging letting-only service for my property. Whole letting was fast and smooth, renting price evaluation realistic and matching my own knowledge of the locality, tenant was found almost instantly. All the progress was steadily communicated to me by both email and SMS, my email questions and concerns were always concisely answered in full. Well, I really don't know what more I could expect from an agency within this type of service. When we viewed the properties a few days later with another agent they had booked another viewing only 15 minutes before ours. The other viewers were not finished so we were forced to wait. Whilst waiting we met the landlady.
