This estate agent has obsessively tried to gain my custom from another estate agent without any approach from myself. Frequent mailings and business cards through my door have been a constant throughout my efforts to sell my house. At no point did i seek help from this agent and indeed told one of their salesman point blank at my front door that i had no interest in discussing the sale of my property with his agency - undeterred the mailings have continued. Comically he didn't even identify the correct agent that I was selling my property through despite being stood by the For Sale sign. Having agreed the sale of my home before christmas, i am still lucky enough to receive this week more mailings from this agency. Unsolicited harrassment.

Can't believe these people are still in a job.
1. We are told that they can get a good price for the property and will have it sold in 12 weeks. Well 18 months later they have taken the property off the market because we refused to lose money on the property. Fox and sons wanted to sell the property for just under £30,000 less than what they told us they would get to start with.
2. Trying to get an appointment with their mortgage adviser was great to start off with (we could get a mortgage in excess of £200,000). Then when we wanted another appointment to renew the agreement, after was... (read more)Was this review helpful? Yes

I tried to buy a property advertised with Fox and Sons in 2010. They tried to dissuade me stating that another buyer was already in place -i.e one of their preferred buyers, despite the house only being advertised that day.
I submitted a higher than asking offer (£200k) and my offer was accepted in writing by the vendor.
Fox and Sons then put a lot of pressure on me to use their in - house mortgage adviser and they were very unhappy when i confirmed that i had my own mortgage in place already (thus depriving them of an easy commission).
In fact they tried to scupper my offer by... (read more)

Unfortunately they conform to the stereotypical estate agent as being untrustworthy and will say anything to get a sale. I offered the full asking price for a flat which the agent previously said hadn't received much interest. Suddenly someone else also apparently offers the full asking price, but the agent said if I arranged my mortgage through Fox & Sons' financial consultant they would recommend my offer over the other person's. When I asked why, they said it was because they were able to process mortgage applications more quickly and as the seller was after a quick sale this would be... (read more)

Where shall I start? Awful service from start to finish, paid managing fees monthly but they didn't manage it. Had a tenant who didn't pay rent, no support, no return calls, no return emails, eventually after a year tenant evicted through Court...nearly caused a breakdown, please don't use Hastings branch, nightmare from start to finsh.

The category says 'sold'. Well it never came to that. The negotiators let people in to view the property without pointing out any of the details. In other words they were nothing more than door openers! After 3 months still no floor plans appeared. Why would I want to pay

After many years being a tenant and a glowing reference I had a telephone call from the agent to say they had lost my paperwork for my move and could I come in to sign new ones. I explained i would not sign anything until I can look over it and read carefully with my family. As in the past they took some of my deposit for no reason and had to fight to get it back, which in the end we did. After the phone call they thought they had put the phone down and of course they had not and continued to talk about me in a very unprofessional way using fowl language that I was inconveniencing them, when they lost their work!! Unbelievable. I will be following this up with the area manager as I am shocked by their unprofessional behaviour. Sadly will never recommend to anyone.

I viewed several properties with Fox & Sons, and I found the team very helpful, local knowledge was excellent and very flexible they also showed me round all the properties I wanted to look at without the vendor being in which I found made the process much better for me being able to take my time and say what I think. I also saw there mortgage advisor Jack who was very helpful and actually helped me find a property from another agent in the end and help me negotiate a good price as he used his knowledge to help me.

I wish I had found this website before I chose Fox and Sons! Their customer service has been awful, they never return our calls, the guy in charge of our case left to join another branch and never told us (we found out when I tried to contact him on a Monday morning, I had only spoken to him on the previous Thursday and he never mentioned it). Our case was then left with the branch manager who is nothing short of useless. Only on one occasion has he returned a call to me. Once I called 3 times in a day and no reply, just the dizzy receptionist who "promised" she would call back and never did. Eventually it took my boyfriend phoning them instead to get a call back, I felt like we had been thrown back to the 1950's, they bother to respond when the man calls! I am writing this after calling today 2 hours ago, and still having no call back... It makes me physically sick that they are going to earn any money out of me.

Sale has still not gone through even after 6 months even though I was told it would take 28 days. The staff at Eastbourne also informed me that I would be buying into share of the freehold. They went back on their word and the staff are denying all knowledge even though they also informed my solicitor and mortgage advisor that there would be share of freehold - they went back on their word, got caught out. They are extremely unprofessional. Do not use this agent - stay away from Sequence. I am now starting legal proceedings.

Although I did not end up buying a property from Fox & Sons I thought the service I received was great. Both Tom Coffey & Alex Napper were really friendly and helpful and keen to be of service. I would recommend them.

I could not recommend Fox & Sons on the basis of my experience last year. I used them but I never really felt comfortable at any time. In fact I often felt really uneasy, and with hindsight I wish I had gone elsewhere. Since my experience, numerous local people who have sold or bought houses in Lewes all unhesitatingly recommended the more traditional firm opposite the law courts as decent and effective, with no hidden charges, and only charging one per cent, plus no high-pressure persuasion, and no creepy feeling of being manipulated. They told me that with the traditional firm, they didn't feel like a unit on a conveyor belt or part of some creepy deal to pressure buyers into mortgage deals. With Fox's I constantly had a nasty feeling they were going to spring hidden charges on me if I gave them half a chance. I cannot back any of this up with anything concrete. But when I let someone try to sell my property, I want to feel I can trust them 100% to work in my interest, and not theirs. I didn't have that feeling.

Fox and Sons are a useless bunch. I want to buy a property and I specify a time on three days and they can't make any of them. I'm phoning on a Tuesday and I can't see the house until the following Monday! I'm glad I'm not trying to sell my house with them. Other agents in Tiverton are very good. This lot are really bad according to other people who have used them too. My advice is steer well clear, there are plenty of others.

I had a really good experience from them. I was anxious at the start as they seemed almost too keen to capture my custom, but they did well: - efficient and speedy in response, effective, friendly and attentive, and happy to consult. I was selling while overseas and in a very different timezone, but they accommodated to my needs and all but some essential correspondence was by email. I hope that others have equal service in the future. From my own, I would certainly recommend them.

We have had a very bad experience with Fox and Sons we were told we had to see their mortgage advisor as we would need to prove our situation and any offers couldn't be taken seriously until then, we had a few viewings right at the beginning then none for ages months! We had to keep phoning them for updates on the little viewings we did have as they didn't call us, we were interested in a house to buy and we asked them to keep us informed of progress we phoned up one day to find it had sold, we were not informed. We have heard so many bad reports of a lack of service, we were tied in with them as we opted for the free HIP if we used their solicitors, After such poor service we have since withdrawn from them and had to pay them

Our experience was that through a very difficult time with the chain we had Fox & Son were absolutely excellent. Quinnel in particular went out of his way, was always happy and an absolute pleasure to deal with. We move at last in 2 days.

We have been on the market with Fox & Sons Haywards Heath for nealry 2 months and have had a very low number of viewings, despite having an 'open day' which was the feature that attracted us to Fox & Sons in the first place.
We have found it difficult to talk to the person that you want to talk to as they are always 'on the other line' or 'just popped out out'. And the times we did request a callback we had to chase at least twice to actually receive one!
We will soon be changing agents and would agree with the reviews of the Haywards Heath branch in particular who seem to have no understanding of customer service at all!

We have tried to buy a property through Fox & Sons, but we were basically blackmailed to attend a mortgage appointment otherwise our offer would not be put forward to the vendors in a favourable light. Even though we have our finances in place, they would not accept this and very sarcastically told us our offer had been declined and that the vendor had taken into consideration the fact we had cancelled the mortgage appointment. This is unbelievable. We are still trying to negotiate an offer and according to our solicitors, our estate agents and our mortgage broker, is not the way to be doing things. Foxes & Sons need to pull their socks up. Do not deal with them if you have any sense, especially the Haywards Heath branch, who are rude and totally useless.

In my experience Fox and Sons have no concept of the tenant's point of view. Unhelpful, unresponsive staff - including the manager. Absolutely no ethics whatsoever. No courtesy. Virtually no service/customer care. Employees seem to be overworked, understaffed and undertrained, doing less than the bare minimum. In comparison with other letting agents I have dealt with in the past - some of which were pretty terrible - Fox and Sons are by far the worst.

Please dont use Foxes and Sons. Like other sellers I was promised lots of viweings and the property would be sold very quickly. Their customer service is non exisent , they don't return calls, no feedback, don't even believe the two viewings were guinuene. I went above branch level to the area manager who promised to sort things out. I have since had a very rude and abrupt phone call from the branch, if this was how I dealt with customers in my job I would be sacked. Please everone be aware and do not use them they promise the world and the give you a giant smack in the mouth, they are praying on vunerable people and don't care we have contacted watchdog. I suggest you do the same.

My dealings with Fareham branch and their staff can only be described as the worst service I have ever encountered. Rude, ignorant, unhelpful people I have ever had the misfortune to come into contact with. Lure you in, promises promises, as soon as the've got you the problems begin!!!! No curtesy calls, no feed back calls, to be honest no nothing!!!! They only advertise properties that they have sold!!! Explain that one, is one going to look for a property thats already been sold!!! I could go on for ever. Make sure you do your research before giving them a call, better still don't bother picking up the phone to call them.
Just one more thought, on my way to work I noticed two properties for sale with Fox and Sons 6 weeks later they were up for sale with another estate agent. I rest my case.

We attempted to sell our house through F&S Haywards Heath. Our experience amounts to a catalogue of questionable sales tactics and poor customer service.
Their best salesman appeared only to have been required to get our business. He did that with style; when we signed and he left our house the spell broke and we wondered what on earth we'd let ourselves in for. We never saw him again. We realised within a week that we were significantly over valued and that they'd used the high valuation as a sales tool to secure, not only our business, but a fixed fee commission that looked great for us if we sold high, but when reality kicked in it was only ever going to work in their favour.
We signed up for their HIP pack. Free if we sold and nearly twice the market price if we ended the contract without selling. How many people go on the market expecting not to sell? Seemed like a great deal at the time.
There was huge pressure as well to sign up for a

I sold my cottage with this agent and would highly recommend them to anyone. They were supportive, professional and informative right from the start. Daniel delt with issues with my sale smoothly and efficiently, ensuring that everything went through without hitch. They provided a first class service without a doubt, and I cannot thank them enough. It was worth every penny and I would not hesitate to use them again.
