Stay well clear, there are quite a few estate agents in Newbury and frankly I wouldn't go back here if all of the others had burned down!

The gentleman Downers use for viewings knows nothing about the property, I could do a better job myself. Further down the line information was withheld that dramatically affected the selling price of the property and ultimately the sale itself. Would not recommend Downers to anyone wishing to complete on a sale.

I cannot under any circumstances advise anyone to use this agent. Our own personal experience was extremely negative!!!

I am greatly impressed with the efforts that Downer & Co have made in arranging viewings. I can quite honestly say, that of all the agents that I had registered with in the past two years of trying to get this Property Let, Downer & Co have been the most proactive and professional. It has been a pleasure working with the team.
In the future, if ever I need to consider letting my Property, I will definitely not hesitate to put Downer & Co top of my list !

What can I say except their sales team are nothing short of bullies. Days before I was due to complete on my property I noticed the buyers had gone quiet. Downers forced me to arrange another 'viewing' to keep them interested. They didn't show up. Clearly they were pulling out. This didn't stop Downers from bullying me into another yet 'viewing' meanwhile insisting 'no they're not pulling out'.... This only compounded my stress. I later discovered the buyer had indeed pulled out. Did I mention that they were liars too? One person in the Sales team is particularly bad - I've see him being caught out while I was waiting to talk to him in the office. Very unprofessional and unethical. There are better agents in Newbury - these are just hassle and don't deserve business.

Downer really do stand out as the worst estate agent that I have dealt with in the Newbury area. We have had themlie to us to try to raise the price on a property we were interested, make false claims as to properties they have sold and be downright rude on the phone.
I would rather buy a property from ANY other agent in Newbury rather than them....

Complete lack of communication between their own staff. Downer & Co office did not know what their negotiators were doing, what the situation of buyers was (despite being told) or what other offers had been made.

Where do I start? I had to try very hard even to view a property that Downer were marketing. One woman, in particular, was downright rude to both my wife and myself.
At the first viewing, a representative appeared and was quite pleasant, but had no knowledge of the property. At the second viewing, I was told that 6 p.m. was the latest possible viewing, and yet another booking was taken for almost simultaneous viewing at 6.15 pm. The other party were clearly embarrassed, as were we, and as the vendors most certainly were.
After all, we were making a second visit as serious prospective purchasers, and felt insulted. The Downer rep was supercilious, to be charitable.
Different Downer staff gave us diametrically-opposed information about the property on more than one occasion: consistent and truthful information would have been reasonable to expect.
I would NEVER entrust the sale of our property to Downer.
