   I arranged a viewing on a property with this agent yesterday to view a flat at 9am this morning (tue 21/5/13). The agent did not show up after 10 minutes waiting so I rang the office in edinburgh. Upon talking to the agent he told me he was very sorry and the property had already been let.

   Not only did they not turn up for the viewing or tell me the flat was off the market, I drove the whole way to linlithgow from glasgow in rush hour and then had to call them to find out I'd wasted my morning.

   Having always rented privately through contacts or gumtree, I was wary about using an agent. I'd heard lots of horror stories! However, I was very pleasantly surprised by renting a flat from DJ Alexander. They were always really great to deal with, helpful and quick in replying to emails. Douglas deserves a special mention for sorting out my broken boiler! I would definitely recommend them to potential renters.

   I'm currently located in the United States. I had a friend look at a flat for me in Edinburgh on 16/17 Chapel Lane on May 8.

   When making the appointment, my friend explained my situation and why I couldn't be at the viewing. We were told that was fie. During the viewing there was one other applicant there.    It is now over six weeks since the keys were returned to the agent and I still have not had my deposit returned.

   I was willing to overlook the fact that the work that should have been carried out before we moved into the flat was not done despite promises to the contrary. I was willing to overlook the two rent increases supported by incredibly flimsy evidence. But the utter lack of care and professionalism that has been shown since the keys were returned means that I feel compelled to warn people about avoiding this firm.

   Despite repeated attempts to contact the firm, I have been forced to file a deposit return request through SafeDeposits. As expected, DJ Alexander have not responded to this. It may now take 10 weeks since the end of the tenancy to have the deposit refunded despite the tenancy agreement specifying two weeks.

   Appalling.

   An absolute shambles of an agent, by far the worst I have come accross and that is saying something. I have been waiting 4 months for some minor work to be done. In that time I have received one phonecall from DJ Alexander to give me an update while I have phoned and emailed them at least twice a week to try and get this work started. And it's not as if I have asked for anything major, the work estimate is less than a day yet it has still taken this long, and the work hasn't even started now.

    I will never again deal with DJ Alexander. I am letting my home in Edinburgh through them and am fed up. They refuse to respond to simple emails asking why I haven't received my rent (weeks late!) and then charge for repairs that they never ask me about. Most repairs were unnecessary and either covered by warranty or they were carrying out inspections I already had done and have certificates for. They also lied to me about who was letting my flat. They told me it was a "mature professional" woman, when in fact, it's actually a male teenage student who has made a mess of it. It's MY home (not just a rental property) I'm letting whilst abroad and I feel like they completely disrespect the fact that I'm the owner. Once they take over your flat, don't expect them to answer any questions or handle it with any level of professionalism. Avoid!

    Daniel was my first point of contact with the agency and was friendly, helpful and prompt in booking appointments to see properties. He answered all of my questions clearly and was quick to come back to me with information, even taking the time to show me and my husband a property on a Saturday when no-one else was free and it was the only day my husband was available. Finding properties is always stressful but Daniel is very professional, understanding and supportive and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a new home.

    Excellent service - Daniel was my first contact and was very helpful arranging to allow me to do a Saturday viewing at very short notice - useful as I am currently working in Manchester and could only visit at weekends. Daniel was very helpful when showing me round the flat and was extremely knowledgeable about services, shops etc in the area.

    Havign decided to go with the flat, Daniel put me on to Peter, who has been extremely helpful in arranging the referencing and lease signing process at a distance. We would have found the whole process of finding a flat to relocate to extremely difficult without DJ Alexander's flexible and helpful attitude! Thanks for makign oru relocation to Edinburgh possible!

    I am now a previous customer because my property was flooded last year and my neighbour recommended Alexanders when I needed somewhere urgently to stay for a short term stay..
    Thankfully they were of enormous help at a very difficult time for me. I was very worried about finding a place at all just before Edinburgh Festival and hoped I could be close to my existing property. I was very impressed with their expertise and local knowledge.     Selling or buying a property can be an anxious time and from the outset the team at DJ Alexander went above and beyond to deliver a standard of service second to none. Their professionalism and hard work exuded throughout the entire process. As well as Dierdre and Kieran, I also had regular contact with Innes and Sara who also contributed to the experience. It was extremely reassuring that everyone in the team was aware of what was happening if ever I had the need to call in with a question and with this I was instilled with a confidence that I have not experienced with any other firm. Integral to the overall experience was communication. Hardly a day went past without a call or an email with an update. I would not hesitate to recommend DJ Alexander to anyone - in fact I have already done so. DJ Alexander is a brand whose perception and reality are one in the same and it is underpinned by the people who make it happen and make the difference. Thanks to you all.

    I have been very impressed by the team at DJ Alexander; they are always quick to respond to emails, and resolve issues with a minimum of fuss. Recently the boiler at our flat stopped working and the guys installed a new one very quickly. They also organised temporary heating for the tenant. They have been proactive and consistently deliver excellent results; I would recommend their service to anyone looking for a good property management agency.

    What an absolute joke of a company! Maintenance team dont no there arm from there elbow! Been left without a washing machine for over a week now and they think this is acceptable well in my eyes its ridiculous when i have a 6 year old and a 2 year i was advised to take my washing to the launderette but would not have my money refunded!     I am not normally one for writing reviews but i feel in this case it was needed.

    Dj Alexander are by far the most professional, friendly and helpful letting agency i have ever dealt with.

    From the very beginning they where very accommodating and quick with all the paper work. They have happily resolved any issues we have had with anything and have done so promptly.

    I wanted to try to sell my property before the Christmas period. I had a very short window to do so and asked Kieran if he could accelerate the marketing process. With three days the homebuyer's report was complete, the schedule produced and the property fully marketed on the Internet. 24 hours later I had an offer which Kieran negotiated up to in excess of the home report valuation. Within seven days business days the contract was concluded. I was exceptionally impressed with Kieran's proactive and professional approach throughout. He kept on top of the transaction daily if not hourly and liaised in a timely manner with all parties making sure I was fully informed each step of the way. I wouldn't hesitate to to use DJ Alexander in the future.

    My flatmate and I were living at a flat managed by D J Alexander in Glasgow. The building the flat was at got on fire, and we had to leave the property. Neil Thomson, Manager, and Mark, employee, helped us in everything they could and defend us against the insurance company. Once we found something else, we did not have a single problem to have our deposit and remaining rent back. And not only basing on this situation, but during the whole length of our tenancy with them, I can say they are an excellent agency, really easy and good to deal with.

    Given wrong keys to property and had to wait over an hour for the keys to be brought to me. Took 2 months and 12 phone called to arrange a lease extension and after 6 months still waitin fo meter readings. Less than competent. Over all a poor experience and as first timetable they provided no help whatsoever

    We were with this letting agent for 3 years.
    The maintenance department were terrible, never called you back or kept a record of your calls or issues and never updated anything in the 3 year tenancy.
    When it came time to move out, I spent 9 hours cleaning the place to their "professional standard". However, at the checkout appointment they still decided to charge for cleaning, which I reluctantly agreed to. They took 3 months to give me back my deposit and when they finally did they had CHARGED ME FOR ALL THE REPAIRS THEY DIDN'T BOTHER TO FIX.
    The checkout manager (KV) doesn't respond to any requests for a breakdown of charges or costs. They know that you're not going to take them to small claims court over your deposit so they just take it and ignore you until you go away!

    I approached them in a need of renting a house urgently and they were very very helpful.

    I also used them to manage the property and I believe they did an excellent job, as well.
    It is never easy selling a property; however, they brought quality prospective buyers to the property. They provided me with on-going feedback from these buyers and they provided me with weekly communication, so I knew exactly what was happening.
    I only visited the property once - just to make absolutely certain the property showed as I wished. Other than that, I had now viewed the property from when I purchased it, as it was let out. I would use them again.

From initial enquiries with Melinda, through to letting the property, each step of the process was clearly explained and handled very professionally. They found professional tenants within 2 weeks of the property being on the market.     Having had 4 valuations from other Edinburgh Estate Agents DJ Alexander came in £15’000 higher than any other quotation. We went With DJ and they lived up to our expectations selling the house for the prise they said they would, first rate.

    I came through the door of Dundas St by chance on a cold February day as the landlord of a flat that had a leaking roof, collapsed ceiling and endless other problems (including the last minute collpase of a recent 'gold plated' sale). Alexanders handled the whole project - redesigning the bathroom, applying for landlords licences and putting the flat together again. We decided on a strategy of trying one more opportunity to sell the flat and if that did not work then let for the student market. The seamless transition and cooperation from one department to another was outstanding. The agency side of the business went to work and within twelve weeks we had completed the sale. Job done.
    I have absolutely no hestitaiion in giving Alexanders 5 stars accross 3 departments - Design/refurbishment, Letting & Agency. First class client service, reasonable fees and all done with a light touch. Rare qualities.

    The first property I found online and had Lee show us. Immediately he could tell it wasn't what we were looking for and suggested another place that was just about to go on market. When he took us to it we were awed! It was spot on for exactly what our tastes were. We loved the place. He was also very helpful in making closing the deal a quick and painless process. I'm so excited to be moving into our new place soon and we're so glad Lee helped us find it!
