We have been renting flat through Citi Quays for last three years.
Initially, we were put off by the letting agent who we dealt with - Ryan, however after three years we can now say we were very happy with them overall.
We have had some problems along the way -- our fridge has broken twice, we had problems with boiler. At all times, Citi Quays staff helped us solve the problem for us relatively quickly (face it - some of the problems are not that quick and easy to solve) and kept us informed of progress at all times.

I have been with them for a year and I would NEVER rely on them again. Very unprofessional, specially a guy called ryan (but anyway, all the other girls are more or less the same). Each time I had a problem with the house, they just provide excuses and the issues dont get solved before I called them 20 times. This agency basically sucks. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!

I recently used this agency to let my 2 x properties in N1 just off Kingsland Road. I did read the reviews before i spoke to them, so i was a little reluctant, but still invited them round. I was very impressed when i asked them what were their bad points after being told all the good points and i was very impressed that they were honest enough to refer to their not to impressive reviews on the All Agents website, further more they did not try to justify it, only that various steps had been taken within the company to try and correct and aim towards turning the critisism received and use this to improve going forward. Moving on they were instructed and let both properties very quickly and for a little more than others had quoted and since the new tenants had moved in all seems to have run smoothly. Whilst i am not commenting on what others may or may not had sothered, i can say that i am glad i gave them a chance and did not judge them on what i did read. Well done Citi Quays, you certainly are trying to make a mense.

Do not think about using them. Unprofessional and rude. All the negative reviews are totally true. If you want some frustration and annoyance in your life then use them.

I read the reviews before I rented, so was expecting the worst based on comments, but myself and flatmates were keen to take the property we found through them. I am pleased to say that to date (7 months) we have not suffered any of the listed comments with them and infact have just agreed to rent another property through them as our current landlord has given notice to move back in to the property.

Do not use this estate agent, they should be reported to the authority. After taking your deposit and rent, if you call to complain about any issue in the property the arrogant male that works there will tell you that you can move out if you want to. So that means loosing your deposits. Totally irresponsible and a disgrace to the trade!

For the love of all that is beautiful and good in the world, never, ever use this agent. They don't get things fixed, they don't liaise with the landlord, and they certainly don't give a damn once you're in the property. They refuse to return my deposit for various (mostly ficticious) reasons - none actually relevent to the return of the deposit. They even changed the locks on the building I was living in without informing two of the tenants and certainly making no play to give them the keys.
If you ever think about using them - don't. I can't say so enough and I wish I had known about this website before I made the mistake of trusting these people. Don't.

Well where to start with Citiquays.... hmmm probably with the recommendation that if you are a landlord then you stay well away from them!
We let out our 1 bed flat with them for 4 years and it has been 4 very painful years of incredibly poor service from the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

I never realised there was such a site in regards to estate agents and private landlords. Reading through the comments on Citi Quays I find it shocking as I have never experienced rude behaviour, unsolved queries or any other problems stated. I have always found all members of staff and the agency as a whole to be very professional and friendly. They have always assisted me in any problems I may have faced within my property. I am a ongoing tenant, and would rent through Citi Quays again if needed in the future. They are good agents. Thank you Citi Quays

I dealt with staff at quite a few occasions -- they were always very friendly, kind, nice and responded promptly to my questions / problems. Especially girls from the office - Debbie, Jorgia and Hayley -- thank you for all the help over the last three years, girls!
End of tenancy was very painless, too. Viewings were done at convenient for us times and Debbie organised them in 'chunks' (eg. 5 viewings over 30 minutes; not 5 viewings - one an hour like some of the agencies tend to do).
Rent deposit was returned to us within 72hrs from time we handed the keys over which is very impressive; they have deducted some money for things we missed during cleaning however informed us about that before they deducted the money (and we agreed to the deduction).

- Tenants stained carpets - we requested professional cleaning to be paid for by tenant, were told it would be done but again was never actioned.
- Deposit never properly protected with Deposit Protection Scheme - details were registered but cheque never sent as tenant requested it be used as months rent!!!!
- 50%+ of emails ignored and never replied to
- Lies, lies and more lies.
But by far the worst thing to happen was with the final tenant, who was a friend of one of the employees of the company. We were in the process of trying to sell the property (through a different agent I might add due to Citiquays being so bad at everything) and Citiquays decided to sign him up for a new 12 month contract, which meant that we could not complete the sale for at least 6 months (break clause). When we finally got a buyer we found out that this tenant was refusing to leave and we had to go to court to evict him. This took months of work and extra costs, and again Citiquays failed to do the simplest of things properly such as registering deposits and issuing notices to the tenant. The tenant had also let the property fall into a fair state of disrepair and had even painted the property without our consent (incl a pink ceiling!), plus he had the cheek to ask us to cover the costs of the paint!!! Once the tenant was finally out of the property it took another 4 months to get the deposit back from Citiquays, who also wanted to charge us 50pounds admin fee to do it!
One of the most annoying things about dealing with Citiquays is that the employees are very nice on the phone and in person, but more often than not they never do any of the things that they promise to. If we had not been overseas we would have ditched them at the first opportunity.

I only wish that i had found this website earlier everything said is true. I lived in a house for one and half years rented by them. From day one I have made countless phone calls and written 100 plus emails about different issues including getting our deposit back. For every issue we raised it just became about delaying you until you either quit or they reluantly attempted to resolve the issue, normally without success. My partner and I eventually had to take them to a small claims court to get our deposit back. They gave no reason as to why they were holding it back.
Please please do not use this company - you have been warned. I only wish I had been.

Has everyone who has had difficulty with this company always managed to get their deposit back evenutally? Surely they are registered with the Government Tenancy Deposit Scheme where the deposits are held by an independent party? It is illegal for this company not to use the Tenancy Deposit Scheme.

I haven't anything to add to what had already been said about this terrible company, other than to reiterate that they lie, all the time. I think a lot of the problems stem from the manager as some of the staff seem to be trying their best but they don't ever get results. The manager is unbelievably rude and aggressive.
Our landlord also lost out financially through them, as they didn't report damp to him so damage was done in the end. On one occasion they took 3 months to pass my rent onto him and he threatened eviction. I had to stand over them in their office while they paid him. Then they said "it's his fault, he doesn't speak English and he's confused".
Please, please, don't rent from them, or through them!

Citi Quays are completely incompetent. After a truly disastrous fiasco over paperwork and moving in dates, in which they changed their minds every two seconds about what was acceptable, messing five separate tenants about, their inability to function properly knows no bounds.
The house, we were told, has no mice, no damp and was currently under a refurb. All untrue. The damp is so severe that the walls are visibly wet, which they then tried to blame us for and claim that it had been fixed. Miraculously. Without any work being done. They have not, as of yet, handed over the 5th set of keys for our 5 tenants and lost all his paperwork. They have also just put up a massive LET BY sign TWO MONTHS after we have moved in.
Yet they are completely successful at taking our money. All calls are ignored or fobbed off with the same excuses every time and they tried to slip a small rent increase by us. Small to them, over

I would just like to say that i have not experienced any of the below, my dealing with Citi Quays for the viewing and moving in of the property has been smooth and all problems solved within 24 hrs. I have found the girls in the office more than helpful, when signing my contract the deposit was registered while i was in the office allowing me to take away proof of this with all the membership details I would need. I would recommend this agent. I have now been living in my property for the past 3 months with no problems.

Please do not use this estate agent even as a landlord. Terrible and very poor customer service who lies all the time. Very difficult to get money out of them even though we are entitled to. Will be rude once they realise that you will not forget and will ring everyday for what is due. No doubt there is no customer service because the owner is holidaying in Ibiza as I write and will not be back until 3 September and his partner who was also on holiday and the staff did not have access to cheque book and the company credit card was over the limit is too shy to talk to even landlords and does not take calls and the staff are not allowed to give his full name.

Seriously, I am in trouble with cCiti Quays. They lie and they can really act! They fool me around for 4 days together with the landlord no one come and fix the stuff nothing is fixed... They are very very very extremely good in talkin to u just to make u sign the contract , these horrible people should all go to hell... Anyone knows where can I complain about them? I never get my deposit back either and still im livin in a broken room for the past 9 months !!!!!!

All the comments are true. Unfortunately I experience those problems every day. They can not fix the smallest problems. Never answer the phone which drives me crazy. But if they do I get the same empty promises all the times and nothing gets fixed.
They are rude and for some reason they think every tenant is stupid. ( I was listening some of their phone calls with other tenants while i was waiting in the office.)
I am really scared now that I will never see my deposite again. So please do yourself a favor: NEVER EVER RENT FROM THEM!!!

I can concur with all of the comments listed previously. Citiquays are totally incompetent when it comes to communication and providing even a very basic level of client service.
I rent a 2 bed flat from them and had one of the tenants replaced after a year. I was assured this would be a smooth process, yet I had to chase them for 2 weeks to give the new tenant a copy of the contract and reference form. Despite Citiquays doing nothing to help the move of this person, they still charged

Extremely poor converted pub, same windows as when a pub so single glazed, mold everywhere, oven not fixed in place, whole place electric & fire extinquiser not useable, electric kept going off, fire in basement, handyman so not qualified and used a kitchen knife to fix problem. Not told about the new development that said handman was doing - never cleaned up after himself, never asked to go into our rooms but did and didn't put anything back, threw my stuff in the bin outside twice and got rid of my own freezer & tried blaming others! Still no locks on the bathroom door, flooring now terrible, toilets totally broken, mold just painted over, holes in walls from doing up the place.

Never use this agency!!!
I rented a property from them in Bow and when I moved in some things had not been finished in the flat. I took them three months to get the simplest things done, like getting your tenant a key to the letterbox. My whole experience with them was a disaster, they refused to give me the landlords address, even though this is a criminal offence. I had mould in my bedroom, which took three months to fix, even though the property had insurance from a third party leak.
I had french doors which had a handle to open from the outside, with no key to lock the door with! It is lucky I did not get robbed!I could continue endlessly about the issues in this property, but you probably don'

Citiquays are the worst agency I have ever rented from. The house was nice, but they refused to remove the Let By sign even though the landlord wanted it to go. When we removed it, they came into our flat when we were out and fixed it on again. The agents were the biggest bunch of wide boys I've ever seen and were rude as soon as we had signed for the place. They didn't pass on problems to the landlord who was managing the house. At the end they refused to return the deposit and gave no reason. We eventually got the deposit back, but only after arranging a date at a particularly inaccessible (from Mile End) small claims court.

Honestly stay far far away from this agency. They seem extremely nice to begin with but soon change once the moneys in. The promise of them using the official deposit scheme through a third party is a lie. and I dont mean they were ambiguous with claims or anything, they stated and it was in our contract that it would be held by an official third party. At the end of our tenancy I found out that it wasn't. After ringing a few times a month for the rest of my deposit. Im still left with nothing but a promise that the landlord's secretary is writing the cheque as we speak.

This company are a complete joke. I would like to agree with what other posters have said, the customer service has been beyond shocking. At a time when estate agents are under a great deal of strain, you would expect that they would be doing everything possible to satisfy customers and ensure that their name stands out over the rest in a positive sense. But instead, they seem to be happy to make a mockery of their company and customers. They seem unable to respond to emails and phone calls. They are extremely rude and become irritated when you ask for information that should have been provided months ago.
Two pieces of advice. Firstly, to anyone considering using this incompetent outfit - save your time and don't. Secondly, to employees of Citiquays. I would start looking for another job, because the way that you conduct yourselves is a disgrace and you would be lucky if your company still exists come Christmas. To be fair, I will be lucky if I get an honest answer from them before Christmas.

According to 'Annoyed' , Citi Quays are horrible bla bla bla, I can confirm that EVERYTHING he said was all ytue. For a company that relies on pleasing people to earn their commision, they're not doing a really good job at all. When I went for a viewing with an agent, over the phone he said he had all these properties and how he can find me an awesome deal and all that. Took me to 1 viewing and when I met him he wasn't very nice, and he was so arrogant and rude.
Never, I repeat never deal with them.

The worst letting agency I have dealt with. They lie, are rude and aggressive in the way they behave. They take months (!) to sort out the simplest issues. They did not return my deposit, and even ignore court orders! Stay away from this agency! They are wholly incompetent.
