    This lot are awful. They don't know the law. An agent who works there mixed up his VAT with his Interest rates, among other daft comments he made. They don't listen to what the customer wants. To cap it all off they were rude, and up to press, are still in possession of my house keys; having said they would be handing over to the other estate agents 2 days ago. I told them 2 days ago I did not want them advertising my property anymore, because of their lack of everything! Surely it is illegal to still be in possession of my property keys when it was categorically told and said they would be given back on Saturday? Absolute disgrace.

    I have just found out about BPS today by speaking with Alex at the office. I have sent a complaint to the Trading Standards office and received a response from a Peter Adshead who is the duty officer today, he said:

    "I will make enquiries with my colleagues as I believe that other complaints have been received about the firm. However, I only work part time so it may be a few days before I can come back to you. Once I have some information, I will mail you again. "

    I have also sent an email to the Slough Observer as I think this is a story that needs to be made public.

    I would be interested in anyone who is wanting to take legal action to recover lost money.

    I've read through the reviews and am amazed by the number of people that Shane and BPS have conned out of money. Initially they seemed professional and knowledgeable and although the rental payments were received by me, they were a little late. Then the payments began getting later and later, 3, 4 5 weeks until they then tried to con me by missing a payment altogether. Towards the end of the 12 month let, I was owed 4 months rent (

    There\'s a lot of unhappy people on this blog and I can relate to all of it, owes months and months rent and kept the tenants deposit and supposedly left the country to go to Spain. Tenants as a protest wont move out and have trashed my house too, great thanks Shane.

    I am kicking my self for not researching the company before letting my house out with them. I\'ve given up the court route as solicitors just rip you off and there\'s no address to send any court order to now, even the Slough office is up for sale now. Good luck to anyone suing them, let me know how you get on.

    They have delivered terrible service since starting to "manage " the property for us. We have just discovered they have closed their UK offices and are operating from Spain where they have offices in Marbella.

    We are looking to reclaim 2 months rent and tenants deposit, and would start joint action against them if possible.

    I used this letting agency in 1998/9 where I rented 2 properties with them.

    At this time the service was fantastic, the manager, can't remember his name but a short chap with red hair was excellent, very friendly and helpful. When he left in 1999/2000 I think, can't be certain of the dates the service went downhill very fast. I then took my properties away from them and used another company.

    I was sorry to see the short chap go. He was great, bring him back!!!!

    They are the worst agents I have ever dealt with I was forced to go to court to recover rent arrears. Ony to have the bailiff return the warrent unactioned as they has reverted to BPS . If you have any sense to not use them.

    It's terrible. Their slough branch is closed now & people who were working there, has started a new business & changed the name of agency. They are not replying to any queries regarding deposit & asking me to contact Shane. I don't know how will I get my deposit back, even my landlord is searching for a solution.     I am fighting for my deposit! Do NOT go to this letting agency even if this the last agency left on the planet! I have been calling them soo many time but had experienced the same grief and anger which almost all of the consumers have experienced in this blog.

    The harassment is beyond belief!     For the last 12 months they have never paid us on time or they have forgotten (deliberately) to pay us at all. They currently owe us 4 months rent and I am starting recovery proceddings and reporting them to trading standards.

    As per all other reviews, the staff will give you excuse after excuse and no one calls you back.

    I have lost my deposit money with them. Went to small claims court, got warrant issued. No reply from the court of Baillif.

    On calling the Baillif (Dev Garg), he gives a hundred and one excuses. I strongly suspect he is in it too.

    Appalling service. Not just the manager but all employees that I have had contact with too. Serious bunch of crooks! I am worried about my current tenants deposit. They placed that in a 'deposit scheme' but I expect they won't get that back... Am I liable for that too?

    The Langley Branch (Parlaunt Road), took my tenants deposit and disappeared from the face of this earth.

    I have suffered losses in 'thousands' due to incompetent estate agent who never returned my phone calls and upon visiting the branch the shutters were down.

    He has done a runner and after calling the Slough and Ascot branches they were unwilling to help and were very rude. They informed me that they were not a chain and provided me no guidance on what I should do next.

    Have you been targeted by the Langley Branch if so, please let me know ... and whether you have involved any solicitorss to recover the any outstanding payments due to you.

    Absolute nightmare company. Worst Letting Agent I have ever dealt with. Claimed they had not been recieved rental payments from the tenant, but recieved copies of receipts of payment directly from tenant as proof. Never completed aspects of contract, such as checks etc. Impossible to contact the relevant people by phone, unresponsive by email, argumenative, unprofessional and rude in person.     I am a landlady and they never paid me on time. They used very excuse in the book (tenant not paying, person writing cheques not here, etc.).

    I finally got fed up and took them to court. It took a long time but well worth it as my hard work and patience paid off - the bailiffs were sent round to them by the courts and did not leave until the company issued a cheque.     Google Shane Sprenger and all will be revealed he is not shy of a few bob.

    I sold a property recently despite them owing me months and months of rent and try to weasel out of it. Take him to court that is all you can do for your money. I tried a sit in once and he never turned up only the police who favoured my plight but could do nothing.

    Rented out my property for full managment via them last year. Owes me few months rent and not only this, they are not returning my property keys either. Left hundreds of messages but no reply.     When I let my property I was assured that references would be taken lol. Oviously their idea of a reference is different from mine, unpaid rent, damage to walls and structure, accounts opened in my name, furniture stolen, property so filthy I had to get professional cleaners and this all happened despite the 3 monthly checks that they carried out? Yeah right. All they did do as per the contract was take their commission every month! If you Google the owner you will find out some other intresting facts concerning property development.

    It seems that those of you having serious problems with BPS whether tenants or landlords, need to also get Slough Trading standards involved. You also need to put everything in writing. Trading standards can help put this company out-of-business if they have not improved.

    So it seems the rude threatening phone calls are back, suggesting the old owner/manager is back (he used to only work Tuesday to Thursday).

    As a former tenant, the County Court ruled in my judgement and I got my deposit and court costs back. I should have asked for compensation, but Justice was done.

    If they are still not putting anything in writing, then keep a copy of your letters and take them to the small claims court. For Tenants, Shelter in Slough are a useful 1st reference.

    They took a deposit from me for an apartment and later changed the terms of the apartment. They have not refunded the deposit. I lodged a complaint with the county court and that did not help as well. Keep far away!

    I am quite suprised at all the bad reviews!! I have used BPS Slough for almost a year now and have never had any problems! My rent is always paid on time, they are quick and efficient when it comes to any maintenance issues and are extremely polite and helpful on the phone.

    I have suffered the same problems as most mention ie no payments, no communication, does anyone think it would be worth while to join together in perhaps a legal suit as a joint action to get our monies back ? Are BPS members of any regulating bodies that we could all report them to ?

    The worst ever experience. They take money from the tenants and don't pay the landlords - I am still waiting for money paid to them months and months ago.
    This company is simply too unorganised: they cannot communicate anything to you as they are not organised and don't have a clue themselves. The manager is very rude and never available.
    There is no follow-up with the tenants whatsoever. I had to chase BPS and ask them why the tenant was late with payments: they hadn't even noticed !!!???
    Don't trust them, they take money, and simply keep it.

    This agency is worse than a nightmare:
    - ZERO respect for customers
    - ZERO communication skills
    - ZERO customer focus
    - they will ruin your free time, they cannot sort anything out, even if you have a very urgent repair.

    I recently rented a property through Berkshire Property Services in Slough and I found them polite, efficient and willing to work be on the call of duty. I would recommend this agent to anyone who is looking to rent or sell a property as the customer services was as good as I've ever received.

    I was a tenant in Summer 2007, initially they were very polite and good at carrying out basic repairs prior to moving in to property in Colnbrook. However once they had my deposit and 1st month rent, they didn't care anymore absolutely appalling service. Condition of property was so bad I had to move out prior to 6 month contract end, but they refused to give me back my deposit and wanted remaining rent to end of contract. In April 2008 I took them to court and in September 2008 won the case. There is a new lettings manager there who seems polite and more effecient, so this may improve things.
    However, still make sure you get EVERYTHING in writting (They hate putting anything in writing). Housing Charity "Shelter" is Slough are aware of the (previous) issues with this Letting Agent.

    Their service is terrible, they don't communicate with you untill it is too late. I asked them for copies of references and copy of the certificate of the deposit and where it is kept, and also a copy of the inventory which they charged me for. They refused to give me copies, and also I found out later they did not do the inventory.

    The tenant was only in the property a short time, some damage was done to the property and the tenant fell behind on her rent. Berkshire Property Services did nothing, I had to go somewhere else for help.

    When we first visited the property, we were assured that the property will be ready for us by the time we were to sign the lease. But on the day of the signing, we found quite a few areas still under renovation.

    When asked about the areas, the agent was very impatient, and just wanted us to sign the lease. I had to make the reluctant walk around the property, noting down the areas that need fixing. And even there were nails and screws sticking out of the stairway, the agent had commented that unless they were endangering, the landlord had not obligations to repair them.

    The agent has insisted the place was 'fit to move into', even when the kitchen was in various state of repair, the carpet was not laid and toilet door missing a lock (and with left a gaping hole where the lock used to be)

    But because we had already paid the deposit, and needed to find a place urgently, we had to put up with all of it. It took all we could to postpone the signing of the lease until the property was in a state even suitable for moving into.

    Would you use the agent again? No

    Don't like to hear a complaint (maybe if they heard what was being said, they would work differently).
    No communication until you chase them (I guess it's the laid back attitude).
