Called to enquire about a viewing and was laughed at when I asked if they did evening or weekend viewings.
If you are a landlord you may prefer to choose a letting agent that caters for professional people who work during the daytime, there are plenty of them around. Bairstow Eves Ormskirk obviously prefer to target their services at the unemployed or part time workers and people on housing benefit.
If they use this practice with their property sales too then you are seriously limiting your target audience by employing their 'services'.

NEVER get involved with Bairstow eves and Countrywide lettings! I have waited 3.5 months to get my shower door fixed. Resulting in not being able to have a shower without proping the door in place. ON the 18 April the shower door fell on my three year old child causeing a trip to A&E and yet Bairstow eves has still not done anything about this! I am a longterm rentee and have always without fail paid my rent. I am currently seeking Legal advise. Bairstow eves Lettings and Country wide has no complaints proceedure that I can find and i have looked thoroughly.

Bairstow Eves lied to get tenants into our property. The main requirement was a rent guarantee system. Bairstow Eves agreed to this and we agreed a % for full management. After moving the tenants in we received our contract without rent guarantee provided, I rang the branch and we were told the tenant hadn't provided sufficient references for this to be provided. This is after confirming ALL references were 100% correct before moving the tenants into our property. 4 months into the tenancy Bairstow Eves will not return my calls or reply to my emails!
They are holding the tenants deposit so we are now having to involve a solicitor to hopefully cancel our contract with Bairstow Eves and receive our fees back. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICES ARE NO EXISTENT.....Was this review helpful? Yes

Absolutely dreadful service - they uploaded wrong details to Rightmove, no photos, refused to apologise, got us one viewing in a three month period and then Tom himself bullied us into a sale at a price that suited him and his client. I made my enquiry following acard being put through my door saying that there were people interested in buying properties in my area ( they soon disappeared.or didnt existg).
They originally put a sign up before we were in contract as I had a previous agent. When
My contract expired with the previous agent their sign was left on the floor i told them
3 times there was no board up and made a visit to the office. This took them

Only had 2 viewings in 7 months then they took my property off the market without telling me. When I noticed it had disappeared off of rightmoves and zoopla I phoned them and was told by Dan that he couldn't give me a straight answer as to why this had been done. Said he would look into it and get back to me. He didn't. Phoned a week or so later to ask them to take their sign seeing as they seemed to have stopped marketing the property and it was confirmed to me that they had definately stopped marketing. No explaination for this. Very unprofessional. A few months ago was promised an open day, which never happened. I had taken a day off work to meet prospective buyers so lost a days money. What a waste of time. AVOID.

Put an offer on a property which was accepted by the vendor - we had arranged our own mortgage - They wanted us to get mortgage through them which would cost us another £250 - when we declined they told us they would not proceed with the sale, forcing us to drop out, no wonder Estate agents get such a bad reputation - thanks to people like those at Bairstow Thieves

Walked in about 4pm on a Sat afternoon to ask about local apartments. The agent looked as if he couldn't be bothered and just talked about having nothing. No questions about preference or anything - just "oh there is nothing at the minute" even though there is loads in the shop window. I just thought - would I even want to pay this guy a fee now?
AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!
I will not use this agent - but please do visit and make your own decisions.
PERHAPS A DIFFERENT SHOP THAN THE BARKING SHOP IS MUCH BETTER AND YOU CAN TRUST THEM (?)

Just simply DISGUSTING what's going on there!!!!
We were renting a property through them. First of all when we got the flat is was not cleaned at all and they did not make a proper checklist at the beginning. ( this was our fault too but as we were new in London we did not have that much experience)
the worst thing what ever could happen is they NEVER paid the DEPOSIT back to us.

I recently went in to the Bairstow eves office in Muswell Hill, i found the negotiator Jamie very helpful and informative, i did not really know the area of Muswell Hill and she took the time to explain the area to me as well as all the bus routes, having been in a few offices before going in to the Bairstow Eves office, i had found most of the staff i encountered rather rude people who where not interested, jamie was unable to find me a suitable property on this occasion, but she has kept in contact with me and i will certainly be renting my new home from her.

What a waste of time! We were promised the world when the house was put on the market. We were told we would be informed every week about internet interest. Nothing. No phone calls. WE had to phone THEM for updates. Worst of all was we were offered an "Open Day" which would be advertised on the internet. This was not done. After phoning the office we were told not to bother staying in as no one was coming. We complained to the area manager which resulted in a visit from his representative who held his hands up to this farce. We are so upset about this waste of time and now we have to start all over again and see if we can find an agent a little more interested than this awful outfit. Would never use them again.

Awful service, make an appointment, vendor doesn't show, phone the next morning after a 45 minute drive to be first told that no one is available as they are having a morning meeting (since when are meetings more important that clients????) and then be told after the fifth time of phoning that "the vendor has done this a couple of times, we don't think he wants to move"

Absolutely diabolical service. Girl eating dinner at desk whilst 'dealing' with us and dribbling yoghurt on the brochure. Rudeness to the point that we wanted out of the deal but had signed up for 16 weeks. never again. House details were incorrect and photos were dreadful. We took pur own photos and wrote the correct speil. The energy ratings were totally wrong so i had to insit that they be done correctly. We were never told if anyone was looking around. It was a totally dismal experience and I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM!!! DO NOT TOUCH WITH A BARGEPOLE

They sent mostly time wasters to view my property and one gave an offer of over £30,000 below the asking price and he tried to talk me into accepting. I finally told him after 3 months of only 3 viewings I was going to terminate the contract. He told me people probably didn't like the design of my house, yet when he signed me up he said it was a popular design. Strangely enough after that he sent someone round to view. These people are a real waste of time! One of the worse experience in my life
I did put an offer on a house. Once the offer went accepted by the vendor, I discoverd that the house did not comply with any building regulation. The vendor refused to sign a guarantee on the structure of the building. I do suspect that agents knew all these issues before, since the house has been on the market for more than one year and other two buyers withdrawned before me. The excuse given by the agent was that buyers withdrwan because 'their financial conditions change'. These are disonest people, I lost six weeks and money in arranging Homebuyers survey and other fees. On top of this, I have been treated very rudely - I had to chase them in order to discover information about the state of the selling myself. They never answered to a single email/call I made and they even tried to cheat with my solicitors....pathetic! And guess what: the house in ON SALE again! So that other poor buyers get tricked!
I am very disappointed, please PLEASE try to avoid using this company for your own sake!

We contacted the agent regarding a property for sale, and were told that the property was not ready for viewings until the following week! When we called they claimed the property was SOLD! How was this possible when no one had been able to view the place???? I e-mailed Hayes branch for an explaination and receieved a reply of 'Sold', excellent customer service! Despite this, the property is still on their, and other web-sites as being avaible?I am certain the company are DELIBERATELY not showing the property.. Since moving into a mid terraced 3 bed property i've had nothing but stress with this company. They did a gas safety check at the very last minute, the property failed it! I the was told i couldn't move in! I'd booked removals, hired help and took 2 days off work for nothing! They said sorry but i was left out of pocket not them. Since moving in they've not returned my calls when i've complained about outstanding repairs, and they've even ignored the letters i've sent them demanding action. To sum things up, they don't care about customer service. They only want your money be it fees or rent etc.
My property is a disgrace i pay over 500 notes a month to live in what can only be discribed as a accident waiting to happen. The shit hole isn't even secure! My living room window opens from the outside, as the lock is broken! And i reported the problem a year ago!

What a complete wast of time and our money. We paid £££ for a package including a glossy brochure. 7 months on and still we have not seen a copy of the brochure. None of the 3 viewers had received a brochure. Someone we knew who had sold rang for a copy of the brochure - she was coming up to the northeast to view houses the next weekend. Information did not arrive until after her weekend visit and then all she received was an A4 piece of paper with a 1 inch photo of the house and a few lines of description, with another cottage that was a lot cheaper. No phone calls, nothing. We have taken the property off them now - but they have not returned our calls, responded to our letters. This is probably some of the worst customer service I have ever come across. Often there is an answering machine on. I stood in the office and listened to the staff on the phone - they appear to have had no training and quite honestly, do not care. But it starts from the top - the Ombudsman beckons

Terrible, terrible terrible. We lived with a hole in our ceiling for a whole year that water poured through when we showered, this was never fixed. Our freezer was warmer than the fridge, never fixed. We had a gate on our front door, this had no key and was never fixed. We repeatedly asked for all these things to be fixed but nothing was ever done, Bairstow eves where supposed to be managing the property. When we moved out we were told the oven top had not been cleaned, it had, and as a result a new oven would need to be bought! To top it all off we found out later our deposit was never kept in the deposit protection scheme, when we said we wanted our full deposit returned + interest, as it had never been correctly kept, they told us to take them to court or go away.

I find it difficult to say anything positive about Bairstow Eves or the Countrywide Group to be honest. Firstly they don't have a complaints department so you just end up getting fobbed off. Do Not Use the Solicitors provided by them (you give them control over the purchase) it gives them the power to mess you around and get away with it, I know from personal experience.

THE WORST LETTINGS AGENTS IN LONDON.
dealt with K and SI let my property out to this particular agent, all i got was problem after problem. there where taking 12% of rent for nothing. All the problems the tennants had were emailed straight to me. I was given no advice as to wether it was my responsiblity to resolve this issue or wether its the tennants. everything the tennant demands has to be provided in there eyes. They have no knowledge of thier own industry. Most Useless agents in Stoke newington. PLEASE LANDLORDS DO NOT USE THEM.

If any appliances are supplied with the property when the Tenancy Agreement is signed, make sure you get the appliances checked YOURSELF!
Pay for an Electrician and Get your own PAT Test done on all Appliances that are Supplied prior to moving in.

Told that I couldn't see a property without speaking to a mortgage advisor to see if I'm 'good for it'.
How patronising and rude. I was being treated as a second rate human. If I'd been a cash buyer I'd have not need made to 'come see the headmaster' and sit in front of them to have my personal details checked.
The team should learn that the hard sell doesn't always work and forcing people to use their added services is infuriating. I refuse to do business them.

Used the Redhill branch recently. They were really nice and seemed really professional until I decided to proceed with a letting application with them. First of all their referencing fees are ridiculously overpriced (£125 per applicant - other places charge around £75 per applicant). This is when the problems started, the agents phoned me EVERY DAY to tell me to chase up on the references and ask them to contact the referencing agent (HomeLet) which was completely unprofessional - it was NOT my responsibility, I filled out the form and for the stupid amount I paid, I expect the referencing company to sort out contacting my referees. This continued for a good two weeks as HomeLet had 'problems' contacting referees. I had contacted my referees several times during the process and they had responded that they received no emails or calls regarding referencing. Meanwhile, Bairstow Eves were calling me every day regarding referencing which I found both annoying and unprofessional.
I would not recommend them, I say steer well clear of both Bairstow Eves and HomeLet.

I have today contacted them regarding a property that I saw in their window yesterday, it was advertised at £59,995 for a 2 bed. detached mobile home - I then had a look on their web page today and found the same advert with a photo of a double unit stating it was 2 bedroom, but when I looked at the Floor Plan it showed a single, 1 bedroom unit !!! I contacted the office to find out further details and to arrange a viewing, but was told that the 2 bed unit was £125,000 not £59.995 as stated on the web page and in their window ! This is definitely misrepresentation. They are offering a property for sale that does not exist. I found the staff very unhelpful and they would not admit that they were in the wrong.

One of the worst experiences of my life, after a brilliant sales pitch by the MD, the house was put on the market, overpriced, at his incidence so no viewings. After dropping the price by us to a realistic price after our own research, things started moving. But with every viewing, we were left with no feedback, no phone calls to keep us updated. The MD usually hiding when we popped in the shop. After a buyer was found we had to deal direct with the buyer to get the information we needed. Also the photos taken for the adverts were used incorrectly. A buyer was found, true, someone who saw the ad, that cost us £4000 with no backup or support. Not a bad profit for sitting on your backside.

I used these guys to sell two properties - mine and my partners. They were very helpful especially when the people we were buying from pulled out not once but twice! They kept everyone informed and when we lost the one we wanted they kept the bottom of the chain together. Add to this they were very pro-active and found us a property to buy. A very professional service. Would reccommend the Ealing office to anyone!!!!..

This branch are an awful estate agents that misrepresented a property that I am still trying to buy almost 9 months after first seeing the property. In all their advertisements for the house they said it was a freehold but after we agreed price and our solicitor did the searches it was found out to be a leasehold that the bank had repo'd and were trying to sell. 3 months after agreeing price where we came up to meet their valuation (..despite our valuation from the bank being lower and more recent..) we are now in a process where the bank who owns half have not even agreed a price with the housing company who own the other 50% and the freehold. So much for it being a freehold Bairstow Eves Great Barr! We now stand to lose £1,500 in fees to mortgage arrangements and solicitors costs. Which may not sound like a lot but for myself and partner both only 23 it is a lot of money.

What can I say about this shower other than be warned everybody they take your deposit and when you opt to move on they help landlords to rip you of by claiming spurious repair bills and not releasing your deposit.

These people are not only incompetent but also rude. On one viewing the prospective buyer said the only reason they would not purchase the property was because it did not have a boiler. In fact there was a boiler and a new one to boot! The person from Bairstow Eves who conducted these people around told them there wasn't a boiler in the house and so lost the sale. They will also inflate their valuation just to get the vendor hooked and then, as in my case, say the price needs to be dropped shortly after signing with them! Buyer and seller beware!

Most horrible experience. Great at the point of selling their services, tonnes of promisses. In reality - worse than nothing. I chose them to sell my property back in July. Also instructed them and paid for EPC. Photos of the house were made by a phone camera by head of branch - looked dreadful (should have stopped there and than, but trusted them as 9 years ago purchased this property from this manager and this branch). I originally had 3 valuations of my property and after going with the agent I thought was the best (did not have much joy with them) I changed to Bairstow Eves. The same guy came round and whilst he seemed fairly knowledgable, was quite slimmy. However I pushed on and whereas originally their commission was 1.5% he now stated they had moved to a fee basis. Not to be trusted.The upbeat sing song voices the negotiators project are a phoney masking tactic.The disdain for clients and the deception that seems to be prevalent and accepted as the norm in the industry is a sickness that needs to be tamed and regulated with consequences that should include fines to keep them honest. Complete cowboys(girls), the sort of agent that will tell you anything to get an instruction, and then throw every excuse in the book at you for their lack of care, attention, and expertise. Please stay away from this agent. I had a pristine property advertised to let, three months later no offers apart from a potential tenant who failed the credit checks. Even specified that I wanted professional genuine tenants, and thats all they could come up with in three months. Funniest thing is I gave it to another agent, and they managed to get me a respectable tenant within three working days! Stay away, you have been warned. Don't be fooled by the corporate background, doesn't mean a thing, be wary of agents that promise you the earth, and deliver sweet FA.

Warning Do Not Use These Cowboys!!!!Incompetent, Unprofessional, Untrustworthy. I made an offer on a property that I liked, the seller accepted my offer. I was then informed that I needed the deposit money by the end of the week, as the seller was keen to sell. With all this I was under the impression things were moving. 4 months later they tell me the seller was in negative equity and was never in a position to sell. I am appalled beyond words with the way I have been treated by a Lettings Negotiator in their Barking office.
I live in Nottingham and study in London. Due to personal reasons, I was unable to travel to London and visit estate agents until two weeks before my moving date. I was therefore quite worried that I may not be able to find decent quality accommodation in a secure location on time.

Absolutely terrible. I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy ! I made an appointment for BE to come and take photos etc so they could begin marketing our property ASAP. I made the appointment two weeks hence and as a result booked three days off work in order to spruce the house and garden up in preparation. They were due to come on Friday at 10.30pm. At 9.30 on the same day I received a phone call to say that no one would be coming as someone in the office was off as their dog had died and it had left them short staffed!!
I'm a dog lover but for God sake ! Couldn't they have closed the office and fulfilled their existing appointments. I was absolutely disgusting. Having arranged time off work and spent a lot of time and effort in getting the house organised I am now left with having to wait another three weeks before I can get a different agent to fit us in.
Shocking - don't use them ! Also, can't find a HQ address to complain anywhere.

Disgusted with attitude of manager and staff. They are bullies and cost me a lot of time and money in travel and hotel for viewing on a house they had accepted my offer on. I believe that as a cash buyer they have gazumpted me on a repo house in Stockton. Total waste of time and money. You would be treated better by a used car salesman. They are not regulated.

They came to value my house and said they were based in Brierly hill but it wasnt till I had signed the contract that they told me that that office had actually shut down and they are now working out of the stourbridge branch. We placed our property on sale with Bairstow Eves over two weeks ago. Despite asking them to wait for us to dress the property properly they came and took photographs and posted these on Rightmove. The photographs were appalling and we have since asked for them all to be replaced at least six times with various members of staff including the office manager. I found a buyer for my property fairly quickly, but what followed was a series of poor communication which almost led to me losing the sale. After hearing nothing from anyone for at least three weeks after the buyer had a survey done on my property, I phoned Bairstow Eves only to be told that "no news was good news." Requested a valuation on my property. It took the agent all of 5 minutes to view property, and dashed from room to room, he was curt, never smiled and gave the impression that he really couldn't be bothered with a property of such low value. He also made condescending remarks abouth some areas of the property. Will never use this estate agency again and will not recommend to others.
I might add that a totally different perception was received from a competing estate agents who were polite helpful, reassuring and their expertise and sincerity shone through. I'll be marketing my property with them in the very near future. They have gained my business!

They were terrible - put the flat on the market for more than we thought it was worth then asked us to reduce the price 1 month later, couldn't get the advertisements correct, tried to bully us into taking money that we could not afford to take. All they want is a quick sale and send people around to your property who are not even interested. Complete time wasters, showed people around at the begining but near the end couldn't even be bothered to do that so we had to do it. We took our house off the market eventually because we were sick of the time wasters and them trying to convince us to take an offer we couldn't afford even though we were in no hurry to move.

Terrible service, we are currently trying to buy a house with them acting for the Seller, our house is sold, survey complete. However we are waiting for them to pull their finger out and get our survey completed - apparently there are 'communication' errors!
Also they did not put forward our offer to the Seller for 3 days (which I since understand is against the law or their code of practice etc) - they also have an inhouse mortgage advisor, we had already sorted out mortgage etc prior to putting an offer in - he basically bullied us for an hour saying we could very well lose the house if we did not sign up to their mortgage, luckily I had my husband there and didn't sign anything, but I did come out of there in tears feeling awful and bullied.
Shocking service would never ever use them again for buying or selling (as I don't believe they have anyone's best interests) except their own pockets.

Even the inventory report says the house is damaged and needs cleaning. But they told us that its cleaned and gave the keys. We ended up seelling the house and 30 grand less because of the useless lawyers. The buyers sent back the contract unsigned on the completion date. We were pushed and pushed for a date. Told we had to be out by 12th april. I gave up my job as we were moving over 100 miles away. The consequnces of this have had a terrible knock on effect. I am now jobless, as is my partner, lost the house we were supposed to be buying, now struggling to pay bills and mortgage getting into debt all because of them. I wish I could sue them.

Not good at all, we all know the current housing market is slow, I originally had my house up for sale privatley and had around 6 viewings over a 3 month period. I wanted to try get things moving faster so I put it up with Bairstow Eve.
A man came over to value property he was very polite and professional. He later came back again took measurements and photos for advertising the prop. After 4 months of registering with Bairstow Eves to let my property I still have had no money from them even though I have sent many letters by recorded delivery asking for my money.
I bought the house with tenants already in, all Bairstow Eves had to do was collect money, I would not recomend them at all. Are all letting agents the same?Bairstow Eves even told my tenants to send the first payment to the previous owners which they did.

I cannot express fully just how awful we have found Bairstow Eves to deal with. Their complete incompetence, and total inability to return calls (or answer their phones) is almost laughable - if it wasn't so extremely frustrating. We have been chasing daily and never had calls returned: someone is off sick; someone is out of the office; someone will call back in ten minutes - they never do.

If you dare to point out their mistakes to them, which were many they don't like it and terminate your contract with them, but they still want payment if you sell to someone that they have introduced. I put my property on the market with the Romford branch in mid December, my partner and I decided to leave the keys with the agent as we both work full time and do not get home until late. We found out they had taken somebody to view the property without gaining our consent first. When we questioned this we received a feeble apology.
Following that we were told of the odd viewer who arranged an appointment but we received no information as to whether these people even turned up or what their feed back was, again when I questioned this it was reported that they had feedback on our file, but had neglected to pass this on to us.
By now I was extremely angry and frustrated with the lack of service, we were receiving from the Romford branch so we sent in a letter of complaint.

If Carlsberg did estate agents it certainly wouldn't be these. I have tried on a few occasions to view properties with a view to purchasing but time and time again they don't turn up to show you the property or even call you to tell you they are not coming, they seem unable to run a simple diary to arrange viewings as every time you call they say your details aren't in the book & the one member of staff seems to have a right attitude.
If all their branch's are as bad as this one then I'm amazed they still have a business.
Avoid like the plague....

I found out that the new branch of Bairstow Eves is under a new franchise and under new mangement and new location. Had very bad experience with the old High Street cowboys so thought I'd see whats new.
I can honestly say the new guys are superb! Really friendly, attentive and I felt that they deserved my business. Didn't let me down at all and they sold my portfolio in great time, kept me informed of everything and really helpful!!
Give them a try!

I used the Putney branch and have no complaints at all. Admittedly the buyer was handed to them on a plate as he lived nearby and was interested in the property before I placed it on the market with them but they were helpful, friendly, kept in regular contact with me and I had absolutely no problems with them. I guess it varies from branch to branch and person to person.

The team, Scott, Matt and Fred, were excellent - five stars. They advised like professionals. Matt, particularly, was very helpful on helping us prepare the house for sale and on negotiating on our purchase. All three of them deserve a much better reputation than estate agents generally have.

We looked at a few properties with Bairstow Eves, plus a load of others. So we phoned up to ask if one of the properties we had viewed definately had a washing machine as we couldn't remember. Yeah, definately we were told. A few weeks later we moved in to find no washing machine. In the end they told me it was let as seen and basically called me a liar. I had got everything else in writing - E.g. I asked the landlord for a dishwasher because there wasn't one, got confirmation in writing etc, but as they had assured there was a washing machine we had not done anything else.
When I spoke to the woman, it was clear she remembered the conversation, but chose to pretend it never happened to cover herself.
Never Never use again. Not had much luck with letting agents, maybe they are all as bad!

I saw a property and made a offer.The offer was accepted and all the paperwork started.One Week after the offer received a phone call someone else has viewed the property and offered higher amount.
Already more than a thouasand pounds have been taken from my account. Never again trust any one from this agency. Very deceitfull.

Viewed a property which had an offer made on it, the public notice in the newspaper stated any offers over that amount, please contact agent within 7 days. We were given the total run around by the agents, the person dealing with it was never available so eventually we put the offer in writing and hand delivered it. We never heard any further as to how the offer was received by the vendor and once again no-one was available to speak to about this, at the agents. We actually met up with another couple who had been to view the same property and had also had made an offer, they apparently had recived much of the same treatment. It looks very much as though for some questionable reason, the agents did not intend anyone else to actually have the possibility of securing the property, despite the required, public notice.

Spalding branch. I tried viewing a property - but they only wanted me to go on a block booking as they would not drive the 15 minutes to the house - even though they knew I couldn't make their times. I looked at the house - it has obvious structural damage which is not mentioned. The staff were totally unhelpful. I complained to the head office - I notice the details of the house have not been changed.

I tried to buy an apartment in Newcastle from this agency. After they recieved an offer from me they simply took it to the other bidder and got another 3 grand out of him on the promise they would not go back to me if he played ball. He did and I was never contacted again. This is highly disreputable practise from a (clearly) highly disreputable firm.

Entered my bank account without notification and took money, leaving me to think my identity had been stolen and my card cloned. When I did eventually speak to the admin he was totally diinterested and rude. Never had any updates from them or calls, needless to say I am no longer marketing my property through these cowboys!!!!

I would not recommend them to my worse enemy. Completely miss sold the property to us in the first place. After paying all of the huge deposit and agreeing a move we turn up with our removal van filled with all our belongings to find that the landlord had moved NONE of her things out of the flat and Bairstow knew this and failed to inform us. I put an offer in for a bungalow at the asking price and the offer was accepted with the understanding that my property would be sold as quickly as possible.
Two days later I was told that someone had made a cash offer for the bungalow that was under the asking price and which was accepted and the sale was to go ahead.
Had I been informed sooner that a cash buyer was in the picture then I would have offered to go ahead with a cash sale (which I was able to do but of course I hoped to sell my property first).. When I told Jamie this I was asked to prove that I had the money. What a cheek!!!!!!!! did he ask the other cash buyer to prove they had the money? I doubt it, and he knew little about them as they do not live in the area.
I feel extremely "miffed" to have lost out through sheer incompetence, lack of information and interest from the word go.

Their website is totally useless, can't gain access to Properties for Sale generally. There is no direct link but is through other websites which just adds to the confusion, as for the google map that just takes you round in circles and gets you nowhere.
The search is limited ie location, should cover all properties from that office but does not.

Nick Named "Blasted Thieves" and for good reason. Took the property away from them due to lack of commitment and comunication, I was out of the country and relying on them. Only when I returned unexpectedly and said I was going to change agent did I get ANY sort action. Too late!

You just can't buy a property with them, because they are soooo not straight forward and they lie about other offers. That is why I wouldn't sell my property with Bairstow Eves. I like straightforward agents who don't play stupid games.

Bairstow Eves were most unhelpful letting agent in Slough. When the landlord failed to fulfill some of their obligations then it was left for us tenants to chase the landlords. The place we rented was filthy when we moved in. We had to push for an inventory and even then received no correspondence in respect of that or where deposit is to be held, which can affect statutory protection.

Without a doubt the best agent to use in and around Camberwell SE5. They got me the highest price ever achieved on my road and were professional from start to finish. Their Branch Manager, Jon Cook, is knowledgeable and a pleasure to do business with. It's a shame that more Estate Agents can't be like them.

Property was already sold (SSTC) but I wasn't told by agent.

They originally put a sign up before we were in contract as I had a previous agent. When
My contract expired with the previous agent their sign was left on the floor i told them
3 times there was no board up and made a visit to the office. This took them
2 weeks to put the board up.
They sent someone to view my property their first viewing rang me 2 working days later to say they didn't like the property and immediately wanted to reduce the price of the property. It was their valuation inthe first place why do they all do this ?
I had a phone call from a representative at the agency who said they would ring me with fortnightly updates on progress this didn't happen
I even had a viewer turn uP who had arranged a viewing with the agent and the agents got the time completely wrong fortunately I was at home.
I rang them for feedback they promised to ring me straight back I'm still waiting.
I then told them I was taking my property off the market and renting it out. I was then
Told their views on my property which they had never had the discussions at the relevant times.
They charged a fee for their service up front which I saw no benefit from.
They even published the details of my property before agreeing it with me. In fact the date to respond had elapsed before I received the paperwork I found errors on the description and it was never amended. The main picture was one used by a previous agent and I was told it wasnt the best as it was confusing which was my drive so a suitable alternative was suggested , it was never used in the adverts.

After the sale of the property fell through I had a nightmare of an ordeal Renting through Bairstow Eves Lettings the property I had leased had fault after fault and when I informed the Letting office they weren't interested to the point I got fed up of it and I gave in my notice and Moved out. The Rented property I moved into (unbeknown to me) was about to get repossessed. When I informed the branch that I wanted out they told me that I'm now tied into a 6 month contract and it would cost me £2,500 to come out of it. It was then that I was told by Mark (Lettings Negotiator) at that time that tenants have very little rights anyway and there's nothing that I could do about it. This is when the problems started, the agents phoned me EVERY DAY to tell me to chase up on the references and ask them to contact the referencing agent (HomeLet) which was completely unprofessional - it was NOT my responsibility, I filled out the form and for the stupid amount I paid, I expect the referencing company to sort out contacting my referees. This continued for a good two weeks as HomeLet had 'problems' contacting referees. I had contacted my referees several times during the process and they had responded that they received no emails or calls regarding referencing. Meanwhile, Bairstow Eves were calling me every day regarding referencing which I found both annoying and unprofessional.

 we are now in a process where the bank who owns half have not even agreed a price with the housing company who own the other 50% and the freehold. . End of October - 4 vewings, none successsfull. Have not heard from them at all - had to call myself and every time would have to listen for 20 minutes of bla bla re market situation and number of clicks on my web page etc. Stoped dealing with them end of October and started marketing my property with Hamptons in the middle of November (rejected them at first place as thought they would be expencive - they are in fact cheaper than BE). So far 23 vewings, 3 offers (lower than I would accept, but ...)
Hamptons assigned a manager to me, sent a team of three people to make photos, develope house description and a surveyer. Perfect quality of print materials, fantastic customer service (phoning me after every vewing with very detailed report and sugestions, no vewings - phone me anyway twice a week just to keep me updated on what is going on. Found several properies for me to buy - two of them spot on, arranged financial support, Extremely friendly and active). Now the fun bit - EPC that BE should have produced for me back in July - neverd done actually.
Asked them to send it to me several times since October - no reply. Finally got in touch with the manager on the phone - he said that he does not have any info that EPC was produced (although I have papers with instructions from me and payments details). But, he said, this is OK, many people got away with not having EPC in time, the main thing is to have it at the point of contract exchange. I don't want to get away with this. Thanks to BE I was in breach of the law for nearly half a year!!!!!! Also, two weeks ago the property just next to us burnt out totally and is now a demolition site. This brought perspective of selling my property to next to nothing. If only I'd gone stright to Hamptons without wasting my time on BE, my property would have been sold by now and I would have been enjoying Christmas in my new home.
Thought of complaining to BE headquarters - guess what? No info could be found on where to write customer complaint. Neither on the internet, nore on the phone. Ridiculous. Worst agency ever!!!!!!!!  I changed to Bairstow Eves. The same guy came round and whilst he seemed fairly knowledgable, was quite slimmy. However I pushed on and whereas originally their commission was 1.5% he now stated they had moved to a fee basis. I assumed (mistake I realise) that the fees would be about the same, however, it turned out to be nearer 2.5% plus VAT. Apparently his manager had arranged the viewings. There were no other flats available, not even the one he was going to show me three days ago. He said he had called me earlier to let me know so I didn't have to travel so far. I had missed the call, but when I checked my phone it appeared he had called me only an hour before I was due for the appointment. I was already in London by then.
To say I am absolutely disgusted would be grossly understating it. I knew estate agents can be tricky to deal with, but until yesterday I had planned to write a glowing review here and recommend Bairstow Eves for having found me the perfect place in such a short time. How terribly naive of me for thinking they could not fall to such depths.
The pack of lies I have been told (and that's all it was) has cost me and my mother a whole day and a lot of money. Not to mention the stress I've been under since. I would say to anyone to steer well clear of these people. They are the most despicable bunch I've come across.

I am appalled beyond words with the way I have been treated by a Lettings Negotiator in their Barking office.
I live in Nottingham and study in London. Due to personal reasons, I was unable to travel to London and visit estate agents until two weeks before my moving date. I was therefore quite worried that I may not be able to find decent quality accommodation in a secure location on time.
I visited many estate agents in Barking and Ilford. None had anything for me, but all promised to get back to me as soon as a suitable property came. It was then that I made the extremely regrettable mistake of visiting Bairstow Eves.
I explained what I was looking for and where, and someone arranged for me to speak over the phone to ****** *******, who deals with lettings. He said he had a property he could show me if I returned to the office in a couple of hours. When I did, he turned up a few minutes later saying that his colleague has the keys and is away. He then said he has two much nicer properties coming in and that he's collecting the keys in two days' time. They have not been advertised, he said, and if I could see them by the following day and make an offer for one, providing the landlord agrees, I can pay the holding deposit and sign a contract. He told me he'd ring me as soon as he gets the keys.
As promised, he rang me two days later, just after midday, telling me if I can come to see the flats by the next day, he can guarantee I will be able to take one. I knew flats in that area were in very high demand. I was concerned the landlord may not wish to let to a student, but the agent told me he had already spoken to him and all he required was a guarantor.
I asked him to confirm again, before I booked tickets for London for myself and my mother, that nobody else had been lined up to see those flats, and he explicitly guaranteed I'd be able to see the flats and choose one. if I so wished.
So I travelled to London the following day (yesterday), just for my appointment with Bairstow Eves, and went to their office at the agreed time for the viewing. He wasn't there.

 - they also have an inhouse mortgage advisor, we had already sorted out mortgage etc prior to putting an offer in - he basically bullied us for an hour saying we could very well lose the house if we did not sign up to their mortgage, luckily I had my husband there and didn't sign anything, but I did come out of there in tears feeling awful and bullied.

Recently I rented my house trough Bairstow Eves branch at Worcester Park. I must say that the customer service is so appalling there I wouldn't recommend to anyone to use that particular branch.  is almost laughable - if it wasn't so extremely frustrating. We have been chasing daily and never had calls returned: someone is off sick; someone is out of the office; someone will call back in ten minutes - they never do.
We were then lied to repeatedly, and when we finally decided to take things into our own hands we discovered the current tenants and the private landlord had also found the company impossible to deal with and were exhausted by them.
When I called to register a polite complaint with the manager, the response was completely childish - very defensive and argumentative, raised voices when I hadn't raised mine; to the point that I had to ask the manager to calm down and please listen to what I had to say - NOT good customer service!
Having looked online I now see that there is a HUGE amount of complaints about them as a company and so I guess we just hadn't realised what a bad reputation they have.
