The owner owes me £500.00. It should be in his secure bank account - I have a letter to this effect.
On Tuesday 21st June 2011 I left under the door at Gerralds Cross Office which handles the finances a detailed letter with photocopies of their letter to me.
This gives all the industry a bad reputation - England should again establish a conveyancing system similar to Scotland, for example!

Joe Joshi and the Cannabis Farmer
We rented out 4 bedroom house in Upton Road Slough through fatboy Joe Joshi. When we enquired at Ashley Brown to let our property , Joe told us "All out tenants are screened and vetted, all professional and we get 3 references from Employer, Bank and personal . We also take minimum of 3 month deposits. We don’t let to DSS ( Council Tenants). Joe told us all the deposits were held with an Independent company as per Goverment Legislation. Hi there,
I am a victim of Ashley Brown. I am a landlord and Ashley Brown not only selected an inappropriate tenant who I’m trying to evict now, but they also failed to register the tenant’s deposit, which they owe me now as outstanding rent. I have had to register the deposit myself of my own money as otherwise the tenant could claim up to 3 times this amount. I have faced a significant financial loss and now I’m facing eviction proceedings to regain possession of my property.

I had a dispute with my tenants for damages caused to furniture AB did sweet FA to help me negotiate a settlement, eventually they took months to hand over any money from the deposit. They took months to find tenants with no result at all eventually I found tenants myself and dropped AB. AB are so unprofessional completely unreliable.

I have just received a letter from my deposits asking me to pay the deposit that my tenant who left 3 months ago is owed. Beware landlords, ultimately you are responsible for the tenants deposit. Ashley Brown did not lodge any deposits with the scheme. It is insurance for tenants, not landlords.

I vacated my previous flat (as tenant) in 1st week of June-11 and when I called AB for releasing my deposit, I was told they went Bust. I have sent a letter by registered post to Ashley Brown C/o GEE Coopers Kemp House 152-160 City Road London EC1V 2NX.
It has been 10 days now and they still havent got back with any response. The Citizens Advice Bureau has given me A template of warning letter which reminds AB of previous letter and wanrs him to respond or face legal activity and pay the expenses.
Lets see - not all hope is lost

we have been conned out of most of our rent which was paid to joe joshi six months in advance by our tenant who also was conned and not got his deposit back.joe joshi is still trading and also has other business such as big joes pizza place in langly village

We were sold a house by Joe Joshi and he said that if we put a retainer down of £2000 the owener would agree not to sell to anyone else. We did get a receipt saying that we had paid the money and that we would get the money back. When we paid the final bill the £2000 had not been deducted. That was in April. We recently had a conversation with the owner of the property we had bought and said they informed us that they had taken this £2000 off the price of the property, but when I told them that we paid the full price they were astounded. I am really angry about the loss of so much money this guy should be strung up what a con artist

Hi,i was in the proces of buying house thru Ashley Brown,i did have a hope we will do exchange within 2 weeks from today.Now when they under administration i don\'t know if there is any chance to finish transaction.

This company is Scum! Joe Joshi never gets back to me and is 'never' in any of the offices! I am still chasing money from over a year ago and won't stop until i get it back! Anyone who is experiecing the same problems the best place i found to complain is trading standards! Anyone thinking of using this company stay well away! I have been into the office so many times and I feel sorry for the staff in there they dont even know if they are going to get paid and have told me their getting bored of the abuse!

Same problem as you all, my tenents have moved out and owe me 2months rent they have agreed to let us keep the deposit, but we have no way of finding out if ashley brown even transferred the cash to one of the deposit schemes (she paid cash). The switch boared gave me the name of there administrators Gee Coopers- 152-160 kemp house city road London ec1 v2nx. Can anybody suggest any other way for us to get our money back??

I believed im the latest victim of this person! I paid my the administration fee of £150.00 and deposit of £ 1,600 and I am not aware that the LandLord by the name of certain Indy an asian decent woman that she backed out of the agreement without I being informed.I tried to contact them but no to avail. I went to their office and I spoke to one guy who also an Asian decent and he told me that the letting agent got banckrupt.This letting agent is an absolute disgrace and im gonna pin this man down and all his accomplice.I assumed that the Landlord also is part of their plan......For those who had been victimised its your privilege to report to the nearest police. We will join force to pin this man down.

Owed rent, tenants deposit gone, I was told I will be liable for this by his staff
Do not use the new company that are opening when Ashley Brown close this week, they will be writing to try to get all the rented properties on their books and cash in on ashley brown closing, however the owner Joe is invested in this company although he will be hiding in the background, he will profit from anything you give them.
Joe owns a pizza place in langley called Big Joes!!
If you want to find an agent to look after your property go into to town and sit down with some and get a feel for them, or take a recommendation from a friend, dont rely on alot of the positive reviews on here have been written by the agents themselves and its obvious!!

Or Facebook us: Ashley Brown VictimsI used this agency too. But I have a better case in which money is owed to me from a deposit scheme. The tenants run off, paying no rent for three months and damages to my property. Due to the contract they are in breech. Ashley Brown MD Mr Joe Joshi knows about this and so do his staff.
He is taking advantage of the My Deposit Scheme. In which if deposit is not given back to the tenant, the landlord is responsible. (not the agent even though they have it !).
We can bring him down if we all get together. Join us and contact us via the details above. I've contacted Watchdog, the media and Local Police. And am looking forwards bringing him down.
You are within the Law to request funds owed, it not harassment. I have his contact details and will be publishing them on our facebook page soon.
We will have the Last Laugh !!

They are the worst ever! I am a landlord and they took two months rent from my tenant without my knowledge and have not forwarded the money onto me. I have spoken to the owner, Joe Josher who doesn't seem to care and has all the excuses in the world. All the staff are new and don't seem to know what is going on, other than saying I'm not the first to come in demanding money owed to them.
I even met ex-tenants in the office who left the property back in January and took him to court and won a substantial amount of money but still have to chase him for their money and our now getting the bailiffs in!
They have advised me to write to Watchdog and I advice everyone to do the same. I am also going to go to my local MP and start my own court proceedings.... this person needs to be taken down!!!
Its a shame with so many people complaining about this cowboy that he hasn't been closed down.
I advise everyone not to use ashley brown them under any circumstance!!!!

What a pile of HS!
I don't acually believe anyone has a brain cell between them!Joe Joshi is a joke. He NEVER replys to emails or phone calls. I have been tying to find his address so I can finally get back the deposit I am owed after 7 months of calling!
This company is a sham and so is Joe!!
If anyone knows any better ways of contacting him please let me know!!!

I've moved out and am now struggling to get my deposit back. They never call back and the mysterious Joe Joshi never returns calls either. I've called the Slough Observer as I've just been into the Slough Tesco branch who shrugged their shoulders and said they had loads of people in the same position some longer than 5 months. Disgusted!
Happy to collectively take them to court I will not accept the loss of this money.

Today I spoke to my landlady who is having trouble with estate agent and told about this website because I was thinking I was the only one whose deposit has not been returned even after 5 months. Even landlady has agreed .So I think we should come together and take them to court and claim interest on our deposit as well.

Experiencing same problems as everyone else on here. Landlord has confirmed we are due deposit back and they are just not paying it!
If you haven't already,report your case to the Trading Standards 08454 040506 even if case is now closed. They can only act if they get complaints.We will be taking them to court now as had absolutely no response from them.

Hey held on to my rental money for months and month and did not pass on to me. I paid for full management service and I did not receive this instead they just held onto the rent the tenants sent to them until I had to threaten legal action.

I wish i had found this site earlier....Before I rented with the losers...
I rented a property for 6mths through them and they took a deposit from me which was supposedly gone in a deposit scheme which no paper work was given after demanding it on many occasions we gave up thinking we're leaving soon.. When it came to 5mths we started to have an issue with our landlord due to a problem in the flat causing damage to our health and the landlord was refusing to fix this at their cost and also threatening to keep our deposit... They claimed they had loads of people interested in the house. We went through all the paperwork with the solicitor and at the last minute the buyer apparently couldn't get the mortgage, although we had been told he had one already. And of course the 'unrefundable deposit' was nowhere to be seen

Let my property through Ashley Brown and the tenants they found were good. I used their 'full management service' and this proved to be disaster. At one point AB were 4 months behind paying me the rent even though the tenants had been paying them on time. They only paid-up when I threatened to sit in the office until they paid-up. Eventually decided to revert to 'letting only' and so the tenant paid me directly. AB still hold the deposit and I would think it will be another challenge for the tenant to get their deposit back. I will never use them again for any reason at all ... rather have lower rent on the property than to let it through them.

Staff are rude, don't put offers forward to sellors (which is illegal). I would recommend to stay well away from this estate agency! They have houses for sale but already know they are not going to sell to you, they are clearly taking back handers so definitly would not recomend this place to either sell or buy a house!

They took my deposit out of the protection scheme a year ago and I've spent since then trying to get confirmation as to what had happened to it and which alternate protection scheme they'd put it in...... but got stone walled at every turn not matter if by phone, email or going into the branch.
And now after a month of trying to get my deposit back on termination of my lease, reading the comments on this site and others and more importantly seeing on companies house that they are listes as ''Active ' Proposal to strike off''
I opted to russel up some help from a friend who is good with the written word and produced this letter......

Attention everyone - witholding your deposit (or not holding it in a 3rd party account) is in breach of the housing act 2004. This means that the agent (on application to the county court) will be forced to repay the tenant 3 times the amount of the original deposit. You need to speak to a lawyer-they shouldn't be allowed to get away with this its nothing short of theft. I was in the process of doing this and I got my deposit back straight away from them.

Worst estate agents - they don't give ref. fees back and lie to the customers as well. Avoid them at all the cost. There are better estate agents in Langley area. I have contacted ARLA and TPOS to try and get my ref. fees refund and was told to contact -

Ashley Brown refuse to give me my deposit back and its been four months! I left the house in perfect condition. They just put the phone down on me everytime I ring, and even swear at me! Avoid them at all cost

Wow, their lettings department must be on a different planet; I used 3 local agents before using Ashley Brown, and was recommended to them by a friend who had used them before. I found them to be very professional, and they sold my property for the full asking price within 4 weeks. Both my friend and I would have no hesitation in recommending them again.

I successfully got two months rent after taking them to the small claims court. Nothing else is likely to work. Try www.moneyclaim.gov.uk It is really easy to use.

Ashley Brown are the biggest bunch of con artists I have ever come accross. I have left literally 15+ messages and personally been to the office several times in the last 3 months. Do not use these agents at any cost they are a bunch of liars.
When staff members were confronted they said this hasn't happend before but this seems to be a routine practice.
AVOID THIS AGENT AT ALL COST.

Very bad agents. I have been trying to collect my rent for 4 months I am now owed 7 months rent. I have made 30+ phone calls and emails with no success. Ashley Brown is a very unprofessional agent.

They have held on to my money (Deposit/Rent paid by new tenant) for over a month despite me continuly asking them to deposit into my given account. No explanation given thus far for delay, I have been told the director is looking into it??

We rented out 4 bedroom house in Upton Road Slough through fatboy Joe Joshi. When we enquired at Ashley Brown to let our property , Joe told us "All out tenants are screened and vetted, all professional and we get 3 references from Employer, Bank and personal . We also take minimum of 3 month deposits. We don’t let to DSS ( Council Tenants). Joe told us all the deposits were held with an Independent company as per Goverment Legislation. As we had spent £500,000 + on the property, furnished and decorated throught including new carpets and laminate flooring we felt Joshi would look after the property. Joshi also told us that all rented properties were inspected on a monthly basis and repairs cariied out.
Ok the rents were paid ....
Only 2 months ago , we were asked to renew the contract. We insisted on seeing the property. Just 2 weeks prior to the new 6 month period we visited the property. Only to find the locks had been changed. Looking thru the letter box we found strange smells like smoking train carriages. Entering the property via the rear we found a cannabis farm at the house. Forced entry showed all curtains drawn and 200 6/7 feet cannabis plants in each room. We called the police a tenant’s mate was found.
Joe Joshi told us he would take serious measures against the tenants and charge any repairs to them He also told us the property would be put back “As found”. 2 weeks later Joe Joshi closed Ashley Brown and we were left in DEEP SHIT. It has now cost us £2500 to fix the damage.
I now find that Joe Joshi owns a prestigious corner farm in Middlegreen , Slough and also also owns the 10acre farm next door located on the bendy part of St. Mary’s Road, Slough . I also found that he never returned any deposits. Well as he was letting 400/500 properties a year, taking into consideration he would have been taking £150,000 per year. That’s how he bought the farm – CASH. We ought to create a FACEBOOK account and join forces.  and many more who could be traced online, who have been victims of Ashley Brown’s rogue trading and who are owed money.
The best thing to do is to create a Steering Committee and join forces to investigate Joe Joshi. It won't cost us anything to start with as they do it on a risk basis but they will take 50% of whatever is recovered. If we go ahead with this it will mean that all the people who want to be involved in this initiative must meet face to face and be clever about it. At the moment all I require is your full name, contact details so I can contact you to meet up (mob, landline and email address). Once I contact you we can discuss the amount that Ashley Brown owes you and the reason why they owe you that money.
My aim is to stop Joe Joshi trading. He has NOT gone bankrupt and we have to prove that and make a case for the Financial Services Authority for him and all his related companies to stop trading. Not sure if we will get our money back, but I think it’s worth a try.

 in 1st week of June-11 and when I called AB for releasing my deposit, I was told they went Bust. I have sent a letter by registered post to Ashley Brown C/o GEE Coopers Kemp House 152-160 City Road London EC1V 2NX.
It has been 10 days now and they still havent got back with any response. The Citizens Advice Bureau has given me A template of warning letter which reminds AB of previous letter and wanrs him to respond or face legal activity and pay the expenses.
Lets see - not all hope is lost

I used this agency too. But I have a better case in which money is owed to me from a deposit scheme. The tenants run off, paying no rent for three months and damages to my property. Due to the contract they are in breech. Ashley Brown MD Mr Joe Joshi knows about this and so do his staff.
He is taking advantage of the My Deposit Scheme. In which if deposit is not given back to the tenant, the landlord is responsible. (not the agent even though they have it !).

, Emma is the worst person to deal with, she is the most dishonest and i would recommend to stay well away from her and this estate agency! They have houses for sale but already know they are not going to sell to you, they are clearly taking back handers so definitly would not recomend this place to either sell or buy a house!
Emma has no customer service skills, lies through her teeth and is extremely arrogant!

Staff are rude, don't put offers forward to sellors (which is illegal). I would recommend to stay well away from this estate agency!  is in breach of the housing act 2004. This means that the agent (on application to the county court) will be forced to repay the tenant 3 times the amount of the original deposit. You need to speak to a lawyer-they shouldn\'t be allowed to get away with this its nothing short of theft.
