To Sequence Homes AKA Allen & Harris (Sent via there feedback)
After renting a property through yourselves for over 3 1/2 years also being my first rented property. I would say all was fine par when I moved in the place was like a trash site. Nothing was cleaned, replaced or decorated. Then when I decided to leave the property. Never have I seen an unorganised clearly landlord biased service in getting a deposit back (The landlord hasn’t made a claim yet or responded but take this as that they do just so we can extend the 10 day legal deposit return period) The 10 days are there to... Having booked an apointment over a week ago to view a house this afternoon we were called today to say they didn't have the keys for the propertly, i explained we are keen to buy and have mortgage in place and asked when another apointment could be put in place., they couldn't answer me as they didn't know when they would have the keys...surly if you have the house listed on the internet and the for sale sign outside you have the keys. Something was dodgy about this so got my mum to call and book an apointment in a different name which she did. I do not like being lied to so called back and questioned why i haven't got an apointment, the guy just said he wasn 't dealing with my case so new nothing about it...total cop out!!!! i can't understand why they are not allowing people to view this property...i wonder how the owner would feel if they knew we have made an offer and keen to buy and these monkeys are messing us about! they should be shut down...will keep you updated with how i get on!

Allen & Harris: Tenant finding service to include Tenancy agreement and Inventory.
Original tenancy agreement, scruffy and only partially stapled, delivered 27 days late
Withheld originals of the guarantors' statements. Provided illegible copies.
Did not pass on the tenants deposit until threatened with legal action..
Did not provide the tenancy agreement in the format contracted.
Overcharged me (still not refunded after 2 reminders and 6 weeks wait)
MIS-INFORMED THE TENANTS. that their rent was not due until 1 and 5 days month after it was due, thus incorporating 2 flaws: giving them a rent-free month and tewlling them they could pay by standing order 5 days later than they need to.. Since their rent is DUE on 24th each month of course it must be paid on the 19th of each month to ensure it is in my account on 24th.
Possibly provided the wrong tenancy agreement (this one still with the lawyers)I was very sad that a company that was so highly recommended to me should fall so far short of a satisfactory service.

Do not waste your time trying to sell your house with them. They over valued my house by 25 k, in hind sight that was to get me to sign up with them. Fell flat at mortgage valuation. Would never have put my house on the market if I knew it's true worth would have waited for a recovery. Lied to constantly by the sales guy, problem was he could not remember his lies! Waste of time company, don't see any sold signs up in the area under Allen and Harris. Lied to that the contract was 16 weeks when in fact it was 20 wks! Go and use another Estate agent don't waste your time with them, they really don't know what they are doing!

I found a small flat to rent that they advertised and the day before I was due to take the keys, I was told that I would need a guarantor as my job reference had come back looking dodgy!?! I am a qualified accountant earning over £30K a year and I am starting a new permanent job and it turns out that as I am in a probationary period that they want extra security which I have never heard of. I told them that I am 32 yr old male and there is no one I know what would act as a guarantor. I resent being treated like a student and they spoke to me as if I was a DSS claimant.

Have been renting an Allen and Harris property for the last two years. Attempts to contact them to repair faults with the property have met with silence - the broken window handle wasn't too bad, the leaking tap was costly, but probably waiting six months before we could leave the house properly thanks to the door being stuck was probably the worst. Further than that, a simple change in tenancy has cost me just under a thousand pounds because Allen and Harris have failed to provide a signed contract. Three months of phone calls have been unable to elicit any response other than "it's on it's way", which it evidently isn't. Just recently, we were finally given some information, that information being that the contract was in the post on its way to us. This was two weeks ago.
When they were just providing bad service, I had a problem with them. Now they've taken to lying to my face.

Utterly hopeless. Tried to sell my tiny house with them, and they didn't advertise in the local papers, seemed to make no effort anywhere else, and did pretty much nothing for the money.
I had 2 viewings in 12 months, I dropped the price twice, and even after that, they couldn't arrange any more viewings!
I'd steel clear of this lot, you'll never sell a house with them.

I recently used Allen and Harris to sell my flat and I must say this was the quickest sale I have ever experienced: viewings commenced the same day I instructed them and within 4 days was presented a very reasonable offer which I was quite happy with. I have nothing but good things to say about this office and will recommend them to anyone else who wishes to sell.

I used this company when moving to Bristol a I quickly needed a property in central Bristol.
It cost an absolute fortune, staff were uninterested as soon as we took the property. I've had to ring several times for various reasons and get passed around and left on hold, then I'm told somebody will call me back and they never do.
The property did not have all the functions they told me it did. Not even a tv connection in the living room, which a woman pointed out to me as being there when we first visited.

After renting from Allen & Harris once, will never do so again! Consistently incompetent, utterly indifferent to the interests of the tenant, and loads of enormous made-up fees to boot. Too many problems to detail, but included lengthy delays to multiple repairs, failure to notify of major building works, unacceptable delay in return of deposit. The worst experience I've had in 12 years of lettings - and they have a bad reputation with a number of my colleagues as well.

I've used the agents tenant finder service a couple of times now, they have so far found us good tenants within a couple of weeks. Very pleased with their service.

Didn't appear to have checked the seller's details (eg the washing machine left behind turned out to be a tumble drier), the solicitor they recommended to their seller was unresponsive and I believe we lost a couple of weeks through failure to respond.
Main complaint is that the Wallingford branch seems to be populated by under 18 year old girls with no experience of moving house. The whole experience felt flakey and left us with some unexpected expenses.

Awful - messed us around and lied to us even though we were prompt with payment and had excellent references which cleared in a day. Nearly left homeless as for 3 weeks they failed to contact our landlord to tell him we were moving in. Sloppy service, rude and inefficient. Stay well clear!!!

I regularly engage Allen & Harris for 'tenant find' and, while they have been successful in this activity, their office procedures leave much to be desired They are consistently difficult to contact - often 'answering' calls with a recorded message and invariabaly failing to call back. At the moment I am feeling very annoyed with them because of their failure to correct a fee over-charge on one account after 6 weeks of phone calls and complete failure to remit payment received by them 3 weeks ago on another account.

I chose Allen and Harris in Clifton village (Bristol) to sell my flat primarily due to their location (at the end of my street). Overall I have been very impressed with their service. The particluars they produced were excellent - I almost didn't recognise the flat the photos looked so good. They were very quick off the mark at getting people into view - within 24 hrs of instructing A&H they had 6 people lined up. This level of interest was maintained at approximately 8 viewings a week until a buyer was found approximately 4 weeks later. I found their staff professional, courteous and enthusiastic. They kept me informed of progress at all times. Furthermore they always showed clients the property themselves rather than expercting me to do it. I would the one downside was that they encouraged me to accept an early offer somewhat lower than the asking price howeverI held out and did eventually get an offer above the asking price.

I feel totally let down by sequence homes and totally uncared for. Delays caused by the inventory service, multiple delays from yourselves, multiple failed communications with me. I would never use your service or recommend your service to anyone. I have always been the one to phone up and find out the bad news on the mistakes/delay which should of been communicated with me the same day by phone not a few days or ‘a oh sorry I forgot’ days later by e-mail. A quote for a sink that has taken well over a week. A net curtain not even included on my inventory then telling me I have to wait to see if it ok that the landlord doesn’t want to claim for something they cant legally claim for anyway. I have just moved home, I am stressed in need of the money which is rightfully mine during the most crucially tight part of the year. I sit here nearly a month on with £0 returned. I am not at the point of writing a formal complaint to the property ombudsman, yourselves and considering taking it to Watchdog/CAB.
