I would like to confirm that Vicky arranged for me to view Three property's in the area of Bow. I can only tell you that she was professional, helpful and had a great sense of pride in her work. Whilst we have not rented from you, I would have no hesitation in returning to you in the future or recommending your friendly caring agents.

I was incredibly happy with the sale of my property and the service of Gilbert Francoise at the Alex Neil Blackheath office. Everything was done in a cheery, friendly and positive way.
I wouldn't hesitate to use thier services again and It was a great pleasure knowing such a highly respectable gentleman in the property industry.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Alex Neil. We have worked with Anthony for more than ten years and have found him to be very hard working, straight, and professionanal - much the best Docklands agency. I have tried, alongside Alex Neil other local agents and I am not at all impressed. They either give inflated values to get your business, or just do not work at the situation like Anthony and his team. Trudie Cole has her paperwork really under control and they are a terrific team. We have also found that Anthony tries to find decent calibre tenants so that we do not suffer damage or loss. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

I have been a tenant for over 3 years now, they dont have any standard policy in terms of contract renewals. When i highlighted other properties where they are not charging tenant for renewal fees, their agents were absolutely rude. I would suggest tenants to review the contracts (when getting renewed) thoroughly. As they add these renewal payment clause without your knowledge and they wont highlight any changes..
For those who are renewing or signing a new contract, make sure u NOTE the following:
1. Watch out for the break clause
2. Watch out for renewal clause, they crazyly charge about £150+VAT and haggle you during renewal
3. They have a clause (typically 5.2) wherein you have to pay for all repairs of the property, though landlord/agent is suppose to manage or pay for repairs
4. They have no exclusions for regular ware and tare and would haggle you when leaving the property
5. Contract is one sided for asking tenant to pay for any charges (for breach of agreement) but no clause covering tenant. Logically it should be both sided whoever breaks the contract6.

I agree with comments below and cant believe they get away with it - After discovering my deposit was NOT registered after 3 years as a tenant and after the problems I had getting it returned I checked up on this company (whose company name is Hillgate Investments Ltd) on duedil.co.uk and discovered that they are not what they seem
They claim to be successful agents - but really they are INSOLVENT and owe over £700k - This is not hearsay - its a matter of public record.
This may explain their reluctance to discuss issues concerning money and why when you complain they are so evasive and rude and why the turnover of staff is so frequent.
Before you use them - check them out. They arent accredited as they claim and in fact I now know that ALL agents have to be members of the Ombudsman. Avoid or regret at leisure.
We have now rented through Holland Properties - what a refreshing change.

Agree with all the negative comments. Im a landlord and will never deal with Alex Neils again. When my tenant moved out and there was a dispute over a broken fixture, Alex Neils assured me they would deal with the ombudsman regarding the deposit which they had advised they had lodged with the DPS. After a lot of chasing and frustration I then contacted the DPS directly who said the deposit had NEVER BEEN LODGED WITH THEM!!! Alex Neils wove a completely misleading tale to both myself and the tenant and when contacted the Management themselves were just as duplicitous, think the staff were simply following the management example. They are unprofessional to the point of actually being illegal. Stay well well clear.

I arranged for a viewing at a property via their Surrey Quays branch, I am very interested in the property and have gone through arranging for a mortgage based on this property buy Reiss who I booked an appointment with didn't show up for the viewing. He left me standing in the freezing cold rain for 30 minutes with no response to my calls or advance warning that he wasn't able to make it.
Bad business.
I will try to contact the owner of the property to see if he will go with another estate agent so I can start again.

Major problems and sacked due to continued appalling service.
They arranged for their contractors to do work which was either done so badly no-one noticed, or was never done at all. Interestingly, the insist you write a cheque directly to the contractor, presumably in the hope that it means they are not then responsible for the work.
Mid year inspection of appalling quality and given they pointed out windows which dont even exist, In my opinion, I doubt they even visited the property to carry it out. When I asked to speak to the office manager about it, it turns out it was the manager... (read more)

Rudest and most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with. Avoid at all costs. It is no surprise that individuals who work in Alex Neil work there because they cannot obtain jobs elsewhere with reputable estate agents. Have a look at their unprofessional responses to the others comments and decide for yourself. Tip for Alex Neil, don't bother responding to this... instead, spend some time thinking about how you can contribute more positively to the world.

This are the most unprofessional and rude agents I have ever dealt with. I used them 5-6 years ago and they were excellent - especially Chris who has since left. The new Manager is different. Getting money from the deposit was near impossible so the tenants chased me. Alex Neil just weren't interested and their complaints handling is non existent. I have since let though Oliver Jaques who have been excellent - my story about Alex Neil did not seem to surprise them and it is obviously well known in the area. Frankly, they are expensive, the staff change every week, they make promises they dont keep, and as soon as they have the fee, they lose interest.

Steer clear. They are NOT members of NAEA or ARLA and are registering deposits unlawfully. BEWARE - you may not get your money back!

Dismal. Really, really, breathtakingly poor. They are interested in their commission and little else it would appear. Items went missing from the flat, the checkout list was laughable (things like actually turning electronic items on to check that they work never happened, for example), one of the key jobs of an agent (to ensure utilities were settled, etc) simply was not done. Do not use them. They are laughable, and I would never, ever use them again.
